Let’s Have A Good Friday

by tinareale on February 17, 2012

Good morning, my friends! We made it to Friday. It was one of those weeks that didn’t feel like it was going to come for me. I’m a little scatter-brained and ready to take things easy this weekend, that’s for sure! To go along with my scatter-brained feeling this morning, I’m going to go with a bit of a hodge podge post. Fun Fact Friday. Weekend Countdown. Workout recaps. All in one! I’m feeling it today. Happy Friday!

5 Things Making Me Smile This Week

  • I finished reading The Hunger Games last night. I. Loved. It! Sure, it’s one of those more juvenile stories but I couldn’t put it down and hate that I’m like number 2 billion on the waiting list for the next one. Sigh.
  • I have a Testimonials page up and running. The words of appreciation and support I received yesterday from just a few of my wonderful clients once again proved I had nothing to doubt or fear in making this switch.
  • Peter. He is my rock and has been invaluable to me this week.
  • Oatmeal. It never gets old and I look forward to it every morning.

  • The chiropractor. I needed an adjustment for my hips like whoa!

4 Posts of the Week

3 Workouts of the Week

  • Monday – full body medicine ball workout (AM) + 50 minute spin class (PM)
  • Tuesday – 7 mile run: I just had fun with this run and kept it pressure-free. Every 3rd song I would pick up the pace, then drop back down for the others. A great way to mix things up!
  • Wednesday – 4 recovery miles on the treadmill (AM) + 30 min full body weights premix of a Cathe DVD (PM)

I’m only at 3 workouts this week since I took an unplanned rest day on Thursday and have today as a scheduled rest day. Tomorrow I have my first 15 miler! Eeeep!

1 New Blog To Check Out – Charlotte @ Wild Things Run Free

I just started reading Charlotte’s blog in recent weeks after meeting her through Fitfluential. She is fun, funny, inspirational, motivating, and pretty kick-ass. Her post this morning on Mommy & Daddy Runners only made me like her even more than I already do.

How was YOUR week? Favorite workout? Something making you smile? Hunger Games fan? Let’s just chat and have a good Friday. Smile

This week has been a nice break from a few things and now I’m looking forward to the 3 day weekend! Love when that happens. Have a great day hun!

2 Khushboo February 17, 2012 at 6:59 am

I love the quote about satisfaction/determination..definitely one I want to hang up in my room :-) ! My favorite workout was yesterday’s HIIT run- it was one of those which I hated every minute during but loved the post-burn!

3 tinareale February 17, 2012 at 2:40 pm

Those are often some of the best feeling workouts!

4 Healthiful Balance February 17, 2012 at 7:07 am

I’ve been loving oatmeal, too. And I agree with you, it never gets old! There are so many ways you can enjoy oatmeal.. love it! :)

5 Katie @ Raisins&Apples February 17, 2012 at 7:17 am

This week was a handful…I am so thankful it’s Friday and I have no plans!

6 tinareale February 17, 2012 at 2:40 pm

Amen to that!!!

7 chelsey @ clean eating chelsey February 17, 2012 at 7:21 am

I’m glad I’m not the only one who goes to bed dreaming about my oatmeal – i seriously look forward to it so much in the morning! (lame right here) I’m glad you listened to your body and gave yourself a rest day yesterday – you need it for tomorrow!!

8 Emilia February 17, 2012 at 7:53 am

My week was surprisingly productive and, thus, very enjoyable! I hope you don’t have to wait too long to get the next Hunger Games book from the library; I feel like I’ve heard so much about those books recently, I’m definitely going to have to check them out soon (yet another thing to put on my reading list, sigh). Also, totally with you on looking forward to oatmeal everyday. I wasn’t a breakfast person, until I started eating oatmeal; now I’m always a bit sad when my breakfast is over… :)

9 Lindsay @ Lindsay's List February 17, 2012 at 7:55 am

You’re going to rock your 15!! I have 11, but it’s supposed to be pretty!

10 Lauren @ What Lauren Likes February 17, 2012 at 8:01 am

Happy Friday :) Loved the quotes!

11 Tiff February 17, 2012 at 8:01 am

I’ve never been to a chiropractor. I wonder if it’d help my hips too?!?

12 Lee February 17, 2012 at 8:13 am

Happy Friday! I really need to check out your chiropractor.

13 Lori Lynn February 17, 2012 at 8:30 am

We have Monday off for President’s Day. Yay for that! :-) Happy Friday as well.

14 tinareale February 17, 2012 at 2:50 pm

Enjoy the 3 day weekend! Peter doesn’t have off and M has school…so it will be a normal (and more hectic) day here. :)

15 Claire @ Live and Love to Eat February 17, 2012 at 8:31 am

I LOVED the Hunger Games (the first two more than the third). I need to get one of my close friends or family members hooked before the movie comes out!

16 Kristy February 17, 2012 at 8:32 am

I love “wake up with determination and go to bed with satisfaction”! So very true.

Good luck on your 15-miler! You got this – just a mile longer than last week…no big deal (I’m a big believer when it comes to long runs in “faking it until you feel it”…if you act like it’s no big deal you will BELIEVE that it’s no big deal)!

17 Sue @ Sue In Training February 17, 2012 at 8:35 am

I’ve had a rough week, but I just returned from an awesome 4 mile run during my lunch break. I already feel much better!

18 Amanda @FancyOatmeal February 17, 2012 at 8:36 am

Don’t you just love the Hunger Games??!?!?! I fell in love, and soon (hopefully) my 8th graders will as well!

19 Cheryl @ eatplayluvblog February 17, 2012 at 8:45 am

Oooooh, I knew there was something different about the page. Nice job on adding the testimonials.

My quote of the day yesterday (I get a few emails) was: “You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction.” — strange (awesome) coincidence!

Happy Friday. :)

20 Heather (Where's the Beach) February 17, 2012 at 8:56 am

Love the 2nd quote – and really like these posts to end the week. My week?….at least it’s Friday ;-) I’ve got a lot of good times to look forward to this weekend!

21 Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon February 17, 2012 at 9:14 am

I LOVE that second quote! I kind of want to print it and tape it to my ceiling…

My valentine’s day workout put a HUGE smile on my face! I went in the evening and most of the gym was filled with (I assume) fellow single folks but there was one couple and they were adorable! They were lifting weights in sync with each other and would walk from piece of equipment to piece of equipment arm in arm. Every time I saw them I couldn’t help but smile :)

22 Kinley @ Better Off Barefoot February 17, 2012 at 9:38 am

My week was mediocre at best… hoping the weekend can turn that around for me! And you know my Hunger Games love!! 34 days until the movie is released!

23 Heather @ Run Eat Play February 17, 2012 at 10:27 am

I loved the Hunger Games! Even my husband read it, and he’s not really a reader. We can’t wait for the movie to come out in March – date night!!

24 Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health February 17, 2012 at 10:35 am

I’m so glad you enjoyed The Hunger Games!! I’m like you, I never get sick of my oatmeal and I look forward to it every morning. Hope you have a great Friday and weekend Tina! <3

25 Cat @Breakfast to Bed February 17, 2012 at 11:00 am

Catching Fire is THE BEST OF THE SERIES!!!!!!!

26 jobo February 17, 2012 at 12:08 pm

like whoa! I love that that phrase made it into your post ;-) hehe! I talked about oatmeal in my post today too…cannot get enough!! Good luck on 15 miles!! you will do AWESOME!

27 tinareale February 17, 2012 at 2:52 pm

We are like whoa meant to be friends. ;)

28 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats February 17, 2012 at 1:02 pm

I am definitely a Hunger Games fan and can’t wait for the movie to come out! I’m about to head out on my first 12 miler outdoors! I’ve been doing them all on the treadmill since it’s been so cold, but today I can do it outside! I’m nervous though – wind, no water fountains, no bathroom, ahhhh! Haha I just need to get out there and do it!

29 Mellissa February 17, 2012 at 1:34 pm

If you have an iPad or any sort of digital reader besides a Kindle I can email them to you :)

30 tinareale February 17, 2012 at 2:52 pm

I sadly don’t. But oh how I wish I did!

31 Amy Lauren February 17, 2012 at 1:35 pm

I’ve never read the Hunger Games but I have a friend who really likes them, she’s into teen lit because she’s going to school for library science. It’s good that there are still books out there people can get into even with technology.

Even though you only got three workouts in, it sounds like they were good workouts! Good luck with your 15 miler tomorrow… eek!

32 Anna Crouch February 17, 2012 at 1:43 pm

1. Totally understand about your hubby being “your rock”. Aren’t husbands the best? I seriously don’t know what I’d do without mine.
2. I tried a variation of your medicine ball workout (I forgot to bring the printed directions to the gym with me!) and I LOVED it!!!!!!!

33 tinareale February 17, 2012 at 2:53 pm

Yay! Glad you liked it. :)

34 Megan @ Fiterature February 17, 2012 at 3:47 pm

Slightly obsessed with Hunger Games – I read them all in like 15 minutes and can’t wait for the movie!!!

My fav workout this week was the Runner’s World Iron Strength workout. It was my first time doing it and it kicked my BOOTIE. I’m still sore but in a sexy way!!

Have a great weekend – you will do GREAT on your 15 miler!

35 Charlotte February 17, 2012 at 8:33 pm

aw thank you for the blog love, girl!!! <3

36 Katie @ Talk Less, Say More February 18, 2012 at 12:34 am

Oh Oatmeal…I think that’s tomorrows breakfast. Sure does sound good! ;)

37 corey @ learning patience February 18, 2012 at 8:47 pm

I have a serious confession Tina…after 9 weeks of training for my half…today I did not run. I didn’t even do a sit up/plank/squat.
I felt horrible after the beach…our friends are in town and I was entertaining…but you know I should have just got up and ran my 5 miles. Tomorrow for sure. It is so hard when I feel like I let myself down…you know?

xoxo from Trinidad

38 Yellow Haired Girl February 19, 2012 at 7:04 pm

Hi Tina – I’m new to your blog … and by you starting this post off with a Hunger Games mention, I think I’ll be back ;)

Seriously though – I’m ashamed over how much I love it.

I hope the 15 miler went well!

39 Bodyworks Family Sports Centers February 20, 2012 at 7:22 am

Thanks for sharing. It was a great week, even it was only a 3 work out for the week, you’ll finished a 15 miler.

40 [email protected] February 20, 2012 at 1:48 pm

YAYAYA you finished the Hunger Games. I’m literally obsessed with them, I read the first two books together in less than three days! I’m on MockingJay right now, and let me just say that I’m so excited for the movie to come out! But it looks like you had an amazing week last week, and I hope this one is even better! Keep up the great work.
