Fun Fact Friday

by tinareale on March 23, 2012

Prepare yourselves for the spew of randomness that is Fun Fact Friday. Then, smile. It’s FRIDAY!

I am majorly bummed. Why? Because I really really really really really wish I was going with the mass crowds to see Hunger Games in theaters this weekend. But I’m not. At least book #2 finally became available for me at the library!

You know what I’ll be doing all weekend!

We have FINALLY started recycling!!! Before you judge…The trash service in our area didn’t offer recycling pick-up. Now, we finally have another service available in our area that does. You better believe we switched!

I bought a new laptop. I have been doing all of my work on my little mini netbook Peter gave me as a birthday gift almost 2 years ago. Let’s just say a two year old mini computer wasn’t cutting it anymore. Oh, happy day!

Want to know how to get the most incredible oats ever? Firs, have some Coach’s Oats. Then, add a few drops each of almond extract and NuNaturals Vanilla Stevia.

I’ve been doing that every morning and…yowza! Who knew you could make oatmeal even more delicious!!! Try it. Today. Even if that means oatmeal for dinner for you. Do it.

I found some new race pictures online. All are from Marathon Foto

Holy flash, Batman!!! I’m glowing I’m so white.

Why am I smiling? This must be just before finishing. The only reason I could possibly be smiling.

Yay! I survived!!!!

Race pictures are so fun. And so ridiculously expensive. And, many times, so ridiculously awkward.

I have something to be grateful for this week.

I’m thankful that I don’t suffer allergies. We are having insane amounts of pollen right now. I actually could not see out of my windshield before spraying it thanks to the thick coat of pollen. I’m sorry to all who are currently hacking up a lung while their eyes rain down never-stopping tears.

I’m having to hold myself back from Old Navy. I got an email update yesterday that all their dresses are on sale. I like Old Navy for basic everyday wear for a good value. Comfortable jersey dresses are so perfect for spring and summer! I must. hold. back. I did just buy a computer…and have things like trips to Chicago with Chelsey and, before that, Denver for BLEND Retreat coming up. Speaking of which – you have to come!!! It’s super affordable and super fun. Pretty please, so you will???

I’m beginning to think about planning Best Body Bootcamp Round 2!

I am having SO much fun with the bootcamp and it sounds like the participants are really enjoying it as well. The community is so awesome. I don’t want it to end! We had a little discussion in our Facebook group yesterday and it sounds like people want more. Would you be interested in another round of Bootcamp? What months would you like to see it happen? Would you enter if I couldn’t get prize sponsors again after the first one? Don’t worry! There would still be the cash prizes!  Tell me what you think!!!

Your Turn…

Are you into Hunger Games? Do you recycle? New tricks for making food extra delicious? Thoughts on bootcamp? Fun weekend plans? Tell me something on your mind!

1 Khushboo March 23, 2012 at 7:05 am

I must be one of the only few who hasn’t read the Hunger Games! I am going to watch the film tonight and after reading up about it online, I am really looking forward to it!

2 Glenneth March 23, 2012 at 7:06 am

I definitely want to see The Hunger Games movie – but will wait til all the crowds get gone. I would certainly be up for round 2 of Best Body Bootcamp. Maybe during the summer or at the start of fall?

3 Jen March 23, 2012 at 7:08 am

YES to bootcamp round 2! I’m kind of obsessed with bootcamp, and keep raving about it. My thighs have never been this sore! And I have you to thank :) I would still do it minus the prizes. The real reward is the results!

Happy Friday!

4 Cheryl @ Happy is the new healthy March 23, 2012 at 7:10 am

This post makes me so excited for races…I’m hoping that I can start registering soon. Pretty sure my hip is going to be better in a few weeks, but I’m not going to register til I’ve run a few times without pain! Fingers crossed.

This weekend is a friend’s baby shower! I have term papers and essays galore, but I’m going to give myself a break and go. :)

5 Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning March 23, 2012 at 7:23 am

-I’ll say it again- I really think I am the only blogger that is not interested in the Hunger Games! I feel like it’s Twlight all over again, and I’m the only one that hasn’t read the books (and doesn’t care to)! But
-I’m a major tree-hugger, so I recycle. I even take stuff home from work to recycle, because I hear that they just empty the recycling bins here in the dumpsters. :)
-I’m obsessed with Sweet Leaf brand liquid stevia- they have so many great flavors!
- I’m meeting up with some other DC bloggers tomorrow for lunch. We were going to go to the zoo, but it’s supposed to rain all day. But, I’m stoked- I’ve never been to a blogger get-together!
- As for dresses, I am obsessed with the ones made by Prana, like this:
They are crazy expensive, but I managed to get a bunch on clearance last summer.
Whew! Have a great weekend, Tina!

6 Becky Przy March 23, 2012 at 7:26 am

Yes, please do another round of Boot Camp! I didn’t partcipate this last round because I am training for 2 marathons and I didn’t want to burn out and try too many ‘new to me’ things–so any time after June 16th would be perfect;-) or I might have to pick up on Boot Camp round 3! I heard such good things about it on other people’s blogs!

7 Katie March 23, 2012 at 7:32 am

Yes, I would love to do bootcamp round two… with or without the prizes – the people in this group are more motivating anyway!!! I love all of the support that it provides and it really motivates me to work out. Any time I want to quit, I remind myself “Katie, this is bootcamp!” When I wanted to quit in the middle of workout A, and I wanted to quit on the treadmill intervals, I just kept going!!!

I have been telling my mom all about bootcamp and she thinks it is the best concept EVER! I hope if you do it again, she will be able to join in all of the fun! You can go ahead and sign me up ;) As far as timing goes, maybe this summer? Or in the start of the fall? Or both!! This could be a really good ‘quarterly’ event!

8 tinareale March 23, 2012 at 2:43 pm

So glad you’re loving it, Katy!!! :)

9 Laura March 23, 2012 at 7:32 am

Please, please, please do another round of Boot Camp! I’ve been having so much fun with it and Boot Camp is probably the highlight of my day. :)

10 Mallory March 23, 2012 at 7:37 am

you look so cute in your marathon pics! no, i didn’t get into the hunger games books..or the twilight books.. or the (gasp!) harry potter books.. i am simply a freak!

11 tinareale March 23, 2012 at 2:44 pm

I was so shocked at myself that I did. But I really do love them all. And secretly I kind of hate that they sucked me in so much since I don’t like to “do the crowd things”.

12 Liz (Little Bitty Bakes) March 23, 2012 at 7:53 am

Can’t believe you’ve been doing all of your work on a netbook — those things are so hard to type on! I use mine for travel and coffee shop fun, only!

I’d love to do bootcamp again! This is my first week of doing it with intense weights (was going a bit easier first two weeks because of running) and I’m loving the sore, gosh-I-obviously-need-this, feeling!

13 Lee March 23, 2012 at 7:54 am

I’ll go see the Hunger Games with you next weekend if you are available. Let me know!

Also, yes, I’d be interested in boot camp round 2. I just didn’t do it the first go around because of the race.

14 tinareale March 23, 2012 at 2:45 pm

If Peter is reading this (which he typically does) he is either thinking:

a) thank you Lee for saving me from having to go

b) shhhsshh Lee bec then she will want to go with you and I’ll be stuck with the kids.

I’ll let you know!

15 Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table March 23, 2012 at 7:54 am

I put almond extract and vanilla Stevia in every smoothie I make. It makes it taste cookie dough-ish!

Can you believe its just a little more than a month until Blend? So excited.

Have a great weekend!

16 Marty March 23, 2012 at 8:05 am

Yes to bootcamp round 2! I think it’s great to change up workouts and try new exercises, which bootcamp is surely doing this round. I think summer would be ideal…June? July? That’s always when most are really trying to stay in shape. Bathing suit season!!!! Eek.

17 Lauren March 23, 2012 at 8:11 am

Girl I hear your bootcamps are the hottest thing in fitness right now!! Pretty soon, we’ll be buying your workout dvd’s. :) Hope you have a wonderful Friday.

18 Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile March 23, 2012 at 8:12 am

Love the pictures! Ugh, I really really really really want to go to blend!!!!

19 Lori Lynn March 23, 2012 at 8:16 am

I haven’t read the Hunger Games books, but they do look really good. Not sure if I’ll see the movie or not. I probably will eventually.
I got the same laptop back in August and I really like it. It has worked really well (other than the fact that I got a virus, but that wasn’t the computer’s fault!).
I’ll have to try adding that to my oatmeal. I guess don’t think about adding something like that.

20 Lauren W. March 23, 2012 at 8:21 am

Yes! Yes! Yes! To Bootcamp! I say start it soon after this one ends!! I’m hooked! Muscles I never knew existed are sore!! :-) Tina U Rock!

21 Paige @ Running Around Normal March 23, 2012 at 8:22 am

Tina, you look so fit, strong, and in shape in those pictures! And smiling to boot – love it :)

22 tinareale March 23, 2012 at 2:47 pm

Aw! Thanks, my friend!

23 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats March 23, 2012 at 8:29 am

AH I’m so jealous of everyone going to see the Hunger Games, too! Everyone that wants to go with me is out of town this weekend! So rude, they should have planned their trips accordingly!

24 Lauren @ What Lauren Likes March 23, 2012 at 8:41 am

Happy Friday! I haven’t read the Hunger Games!

25 Heather (Where's the Beach) March 23, 2012 at 8:41 am

Love the nunaturals vanilla stevia in my oatmeal (in just about anything – it makes for awesome cinnamon apples). Our pollen has been through the roof here too and I’m sooooo glad my Singulair (for my asthma) helps prevent allergy attacks as well. My poor hubby is suffering.

26 [email protected] March 23, 2012 at 8:49 am

Wahoo–seeing the Hunger Games tonight. SO stoked! Have fun reading the book though–it’s a good one!

And yes, race photos = awkward x 1000000

27 Kristy March 23, 2012 at 8:59 am

your race pics are great! mine are always terrible. i try to make an effort to not look miserable when i see the camera but it ends up looking worse!

28 Kelly March 23, 2012 at 9:14 am

I’m interested in round two of boot camp! I couldn’t do round one because I’d just had baby #2, but I’ll be ready for bootcamp two when you offer it!

29 Caroline @ After Dinner Dance March 23, 2012 at 9:26 am

Definitely seeing the Hunger Games this weekend – luckily I don’t live in a big city where it constantly sells out :) I’m grateful for that! The first book was definitely the best though, so don’t set your hopes too high.

30 tinareale March 23, 2012 at 2:48 pm

I’ve heard that a lot about the 1st book being the best. Luckily the last 3 books I read have been very blah so anything will be GREAT reading to me right now. ;)

31 Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers March 23, 2012 at 9:28 am

Oh no, now I have to hold myself back from Old Navy too!

I just got book 3 from the library. I hate waiting on good books, but the library is such an awesome resource!

32 Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health March 23, 2012 at 9:30 am

Ugh I hate allergies!! I’m glad that the pollen levels haven’t been too high around me yet this year because as soon as they are I basically feel like a sniffly mess with puffy eyes…so attractive ;) . And I’m LOVING bootcamp. I totally think it should be something that you continue!

33 Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona March 23, 2012 at 9:33 am

I would definitely sign up for boot camp again, even if there are no sponsor prizes. The community is way more motivating than I thought. As for timing I’d suggest over the summer. It’s so easy to want to take it easy and slack off with the working out.

Thanks again for putting all this work into the boot camp – it’s very much appreciated!

34 tinareale March 23, 2012 at 2:49 pm

And thank you Fiona for being part of it and for the feedback. :)

35 Colleen C March 23, 2012 at 9:40 am

I would love to join into Round 2! Personally as soon as possible would be best for me! But whenever you do it, I will join in!

May the odds ever be in your favor! :)

36 Amy March 23, 2012 at 9:44 am

A resounding YES to bootcamp round 2…I’m loving it!!!

37 Cynthia March 23, 2012 at 9:48 am

YES to another round of bootcamp!! I am loving all of the workouts. I have had a problem both with workout boredom and staying consistent with my goals. This bootcamp is helping with both of those things. I would still join even without the weekly prizes. Those are just a bonus. :) Summer months seems like a good time for another bootcamp. This one ends in May . . . maybe the next one could start around June or July . . . ?

Also, I am hating the pollen in Georgia too. I have a black car that is now green! Ugh. I am also thankful that I don’t get allergies.

38 Maggie March 23, 2012 at 9:48 am

I think a second round of bootcamp would be a great idea! I am loving learning all of the new-to-me exercises and it’s SO much easier to find the motivation to work out when I already have the workout planned’s like I don’t want to miss learning any new exercises so it makes me want to stick to my work out plan even more :D

39 Parita @ myinnershakti March 23, 2012 at 10:01 am

I have to wait two more weeks before I get to go see The Hunger Games…Vishnu and I promised we’d go see it together! :)

And I’m definitely going to join the next round of Bootcamp! Count me in!

40 [email protected] March 23, 2012 at 10:03 am

Congrats on the new laptop, Tina! I can’t believe you were doing ALL the work you do on a little netbook! I couldn’t do it! I need a desktop, laptops kill me!

I just got a library card and was thinkng of going to get the hunger games!

And YES to NuNaturals in oats. I put like 3-4 drops of the vanilla in my oatmeal in the AM and boy it is delicious!!

Happy Friday!

41 Katie March 23, 2012 at 10:03 am

I would be interested in bootcamp!

42 Sabrina @ Customized Creations March 23, 2012 at 10:34 am

I was just wondering the day if you were going to do another Bootcamp. I wanted to sign up for this one, and I put it off and before I remembered it was too late. I was super bummed, but such is life. LOL! I am all in if you choose to do another one and will sign up the first day I read about it so I don’t forget again. LOL!

43 Rebecca @ Miss Magnolia Munches & Moves March 23, 2012 at 10:36 am

I got sucked into that Old Navy sale e-mail and shopped online a little bit. I didn’t order anything, because I always wait until things are put on clearance, then they add an extra 40% off! Good things come to those who wait…and by good things I mean really cheap clothes. I’m reading Hunger Games now. (I know…I’m very behind.) I’m trying to finish before Sunday so I can go to the movie with my mom and sister.

44 Alyse March 23, 2012 at 10:41 am

I’m all for another Boot Camp! I’d love one in the fall. I’m enjoying myself and enjoying not having to think about what I’m going to do day by day beyond running. L.O.V.E it. :-)

45 nicole March 23, 2012 at 10:41 am

I would definately do Bootcamp #2, I am loving it and loving the group feeling and comradery, it’s so fun!!

46 Alyssa @ fit and fun in third March 23, 2012 at 10:42 am

I’d love to join in on Bootcamp #2!!!!

47 jobo March 23, 2012 at 10:44 am

You look so happy in those pics!! I love it. And I love the switch up for your oatmeal. I might have to try that too ;-) I saw that Old Navy sale too and was so tempted! they do have some good dresses!

48 meghan March 23, 2012 at 10:49 am

I would love a second boot camp, I couldn’t do round one since I am only 4.5 weeks post partum.

49 [email protected] March 23, 2012 at 11:01 am

It’s about time recycling becomes easily accessible to everyone! It’s the only way people will actually do it- if it’s easy and convenient. It will definitely make you feel better not throwing so much away, you can recycle almost everything! I lived in Spain for a semester and was dumbfounded at the amazing recycling system they have over there. Just another step in the right direction :)

50 Yellow Haired Girl March 23, 2012 at 11:03 am

Ooooh, enjoy book #2! I have a feeling you will :)

Lovin’ the race photos!

51 Alli @ alli learns life March 23, 2012 at 11:11 am

definitely interested in round 2!! I’m loving bootcamp! no prizes necessary!

52 Kayla March 23, 2012 at 11:39 am

Another round of bootcamp would be great – I didn’t hear it about it in time to sign up and would love a chance to get my booty kicked! :-)

53 Lisa March 23, 2012 at 11:43 am

I didn’t get the chance to sign up for the first boot camp :( so the second addition would be perfect! Book number 2 is super good, I can’t wait to see the movie! Enjoy your weekend!

54 Amy Ramos March 23, 2012 at 12:19 pm

Since I missed the first boot camp, I would love to join the second round! Maybe in May or June to prep for summer (I am not going to say bikini season b/c I have not owned one of those in 20 yrs).

I am not interested in the Hunger Games (sorry). I am usually behind when I catch on to things…..

55 Karen March 23, 2012 at 12:54 pm

I just hit up the Old Navy stock up sale for my kids. I still have a hard time buying clothes for myself but absolutely no problem buying stuff for the kids!

56 sabrina March 23, 2012 at 12:59 pm

I missed out on the first bootcamp! I would love to be involved in the next one! Hopefully the 2nd bootcamp will start soon!

57 Stacy @ Stacy Eats March 23, 2012 at 1:08 pm

I love Old Navy too! The warm weather is making me want to shop like crazy but I’m also trying to hold back because of so many other expenses right now.
Cute pics from the race!

58 Maria March 23, 2012 at 1:50 pm

Yes! I’m definitely interested in Round 2 of Best Body Bootcamp. I didn’t sign up for the first one because I was in between gyms at the time, but now that I have a gym home, I cannot wait to join in on the fun!

59 Rachel @ Eat, Learn, Discover! March 23, 2012 at 2:21 pm

I’d love to do bootcamp round two! Maybe a summer version in late june/july incorporating some outdoor workouts? I would have loved to participate in the first round, but it’s just not realistic for me with school and everything, I cannot commit to a set schedule really.
SO jealous of everyone seeing the Hunger Games movie! I can’t find anyone I know around here who has read them :-(

60 Callie @ The Wannabe Athlete March 23, 2012 at 4:03 pm

YES! I would be interested in Round Two!

61 Lauren @ Sassy Molassy March 23, 2012 at 4:35 pm

Yes, would love to have you do a round 2. I didn’t sign up this time bc I’m already doing a ton of strength, xtraining, etc while marathon training. I’d love to do it as soon as this round is over and YES, to the prizes/brands supporting your group. Awesome motivation and $25 is a great price. I’m always looking for new workout moves to incorporate into my fitness.

PS – the share this bar makes it a bit hard to read the post because it keeps covering the exact place I’m trying to ready and it has no x.

62 tinareale March 23, 2012 at 8:03 pm

I took it down. It was something new I was trying but I wasn’t sure how it would look. Sorry you caught it when it was up!

63 Megan March 23, 2012 at 5:04 pm

YES! I’d love another round of BBC. In fact, I get sad while I’m doing the workouts because I wonder what I’ll do when the 8 weeks are up. The program has been so motivating, and I’m learning a ton about strength training, always a weak spot for me. It would be nice to do another round later in the year (late fall?) because, at least for me, that’s another slow time – races are wrapping up and the holidays are around the corner.

And I’d do it even without sponsor prizes. Just ticking off a little “x” on a spreadsheet knowing that you’ll check it is ridiculously motivating for some reason. Great job leading this program!

64 Amykinz @ Foodie 4 Healing March 23, 2012 at 7:36 pm

I’m scared to read the Hunger Games cause I’m a total wimp when it comes to violence these days.

Yes, we recycle.

I’ve just discovered amazing sweeteners that don’t affect your blood sugar as much, such as Lucuma and Yacon Syrup!

I would be interested in your next boot camp, IF I can find the finances. Do you ever anticipate offering scholarships? Also, I’ve been battling PPD since Baby A, so my exercise is at a halt until I’m doing better from that. Boo.

65 Coco March 23, 2012 at 7:54 pm

I am loving the Hunger Games books. In fact, instead of going to see the movie, I’m going to get back to #2 ….

66 STUFT Mama March 23, 2012 at 8:02 pm

Great race photos. That oatmeal trick is a great one! :) YOU rock with your boot camp friend. And…….. hope you have a great weekend!!!!!

67 Amy Lauren March 23, 2012 at 8:20 pm

I’m not doing the boot camp, and I really wish I’d signed up. Personally, I think it would be great in the summer months. There aren’t as many races, and a lot of people tend to get sidetracked from working out because they’ve broken things like New Year’s Resolutions. If one was offered during the summer, I would most likely be signing up asap.

Yay for your new computer! I need one desperately, I’m using a 5 year old laptop! My computer at work is actually faster and better, so I typically use it to write a lot of blog posts and stuff.

Have a great weekend :) .

68 Sarah K. @ The Pajama Chef March 23, 2012 at 8:36 pm

my husband and i saw the hunger games at midnight today (early friday). it was so good! i’ve never been to a midnight showing, and it was fun. hope you can see it soon!

69 Amy March 23, 2012 at 10:13 pm

I am soooooooooo loving the boot camp! Thanks so much for putting this on for all of us!!!! I would love if there was a round 2! Possibly starting a week or 2 after the first one. And I would join even if there weren’t any sponsors OR a cash prize! It’s all about the enjoyment I get from the new workouts and all the support from everyone!!!! <3 Thanks again!

70 Katie @ Katie Without Restrictions March 24, 2012 at 3:10 pm

Why didn’t you go see the movie?? SOO worth it… ;)

71 [email protected] March 24, 2012 at 3:42 pm

I just started the first book today. I hope it lives up to the hype:)

72 Katie @ Talk Less, Say More March 24, 2012 at 7:00 pm

My current apartment recycles but the one I’m planning to move to in a week or so does not and that makes me sad… :(

73 Katie March 24, 2012 at 7:19 pm

Oh my gosh, PLEASE do another round of bootcamp! I didn’t sign up the first time, but after hearing all of the other bloggers raving about it, I REALLY want to get in on it now! I would do it without prizes– I just need something to get me out of my workout rut! lol :)

74 Sara @ Nourish and Flourish March 25, 2012 at 2:37 am

I would LOVE it if you run a Bootcamp #2! I didn’t sign up this time because I was in the middle of LiveFit, but I should be done by the time you’re ready for another round. It sounds like you’re doing an incredible job; I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews! :)

Congrats on your big laptop purchase! It’s a beauty. :) And I agree with you about NuNaturals liquid vanilla stevia–it really does do wonders in oatmeal! I’ll have to try combining it with almond extract next!

75 Bri Carpenter March 25, 2012 at 4:04 am

ahh!! I would definitely enter again, even if there aren’t prizes! Realistically, with over 300 people participating I’m not really setting my hopes too high on winning anything anyways! But I am loving bootcamp and think a round 2 is a must :)
As far as workouts go I think some good circuit workouts to keep the heart rate up high would be great. We’re heading into winter here (Sydney) and the next few months will be very wet. Getting outdoors for cardio won’t always be an option which makes it very hard sometimes.
Thanks for all your hard work Tina!

76 Adriana R. March 25, 2012 at 9:24 am

Yes please for round 2! So much information and so detailed. Maybe after Labor Day to get rid of the excess summer fun lbs?

77 Erin March 25, 2012 at 8:03 pm

Please do boot camp 2! I couldn’t do it this time, but would love the opportunity later. It seems so great for accountability and new ideas!

78 Laura @joyful shimmy March 25, 2012 at 10:52 pm

Ooooh catching fire is soo good. I would love to do the bootcamp on round two it might be a great challenge. Please do!

79 [email protected] March 26, 2012 at 12:01 pm

I must say I’m a huge Hunger Games fan. I read the books a while ago, before the craze, so I was there on friday evening acting like an overly excited preteen as Katniss and Peeta took the screen. Let me just say the the movie was amazing, they did a fantastic job following the book! It was over 2 hours and 20 minutes, and every bit was perfect, I’ll confess it was tear jerking. Catching Fire is my favorite of the trilogy so enjoy it! Also, great for you for recycling! Every bit counts :)

80 Kelly @ Kelly Be Well March 27, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Gah! I’m late on this. Some crazy woman named Tina gave me these crazy workouts and incentive to do them every day so I haven’t had much time for blog reading. :)
(I’m kidding!!!) I would ABSOLUTELY sign up for another Bootcamp. This has been so much fun and the Facebook community is just amazing. I adore the workouts and the group! I’d definitely do it, even without prizes. :)

81 tinareale March 28, 2012 at 6:16 am

Haha! Yea. What is up with that chick?! She’s crazy or something. ;)

82 Paige March 31, 2012 at 8:44 am

Yes to another round of BootCamp! I wasn’t able to sign up for the first one because I am going abroad for 5 weeks, but I would love the opportunity to try it.

Maybe start in June for the summer? Or even better in August when I finally get settled in my new city!
