Me, Myself, and I

by tinareale on April 26, 2012

Good morning! Is it Friday yet? No? Well, I’m in a Friday mood so I’m proclaiming today Friday. If I do a Fun Fact Friday type post that means it’s Friday, right? No again? Dang. Well, even if this doesn’t make it Friday I am in the mood for something light and easy on the blog front. Let’s do a little survey courtesy of  Chelsey and Colleen from like a month ago. Never too late for a good survey to get to know each other better. Open-mouthed smile

PS – Do you like my haircut? I’m still getting used to it and it’s shorter than I anticipated. But I loved the stylist that Laura recommended to me. She was so nice and did do the cut in the pic I showed her just right. It’s just been awhile since I’ve gone shorter. Okay – back to getting to know me.

1. When a cashier in the checkout line at the grocery store is being a grump for no reason, how do you typically react? Well, I believe everyone has a reason behind any emotions they feel. So, if someone acts a grump, I try to remain as calm and positive as possible. I probably annoy them since I will put on a big smile and ask how he/she is doing and saying that I hope the rest of the day goes smoothly.

2. Are you the type that likes going out with your girlfriends or staying in? I usually like to go out with my “girlfriends”. However, “going out” is a relative term. In my mind it means a dinner or a run or something equally basic. No clubbing or bar hopping for this chick anymore.

3. Do you sob and get emotional watching romance movies? I don’t really get emotional during romantic movies…but put me in front of a movie or TV show that has a husband/wife/family scenario with someone ill/dying and I will bawl like a baby. My mind automatically goes to “What would I do if that ever happened to my family????” and the tears commence.

4. What stresses you out the most? Oh, goodness. I guess feeling like things are spiraling out of control. Like when a TON of stuff suddenly comes up that needs to be done and I have no clue where to start to even begin to accomplish anything.

5. What do you think people think of you? Hmmmm? I really don’t know. I hope that they think I’m compassionate and a good person. But I really don’t know. I guess I don’t care?

6. When you overindulge do you hit the gym to burn it all off, or just accept the indulgence and follow your same routine? Pfffft!!! I accept the indulgence and move on with my normal routine. Although, sometimes it does mess with my head still.

7. Are you easily annoyed? I used to be a high school teacher and now have two toddlers. I have a very high tolerance for “annoyed”. I can tune out almost anything.

8. What do you think is your biggest personality flaw? Wanting control. I don’t even want to be around me when I feel like things aren’t going “right”.

9. What is one thing you don’t think people see enough of when it comes to your personality? My sarcasm. I think people view me as super serious and I’m really not all that serious.

10. Can you feel relaxed in a busy crowd or messy room? Busy crowd? Yes. I love the energy of people. Messy room? That’s pushing it. Clutter is not my friend.

Your Turn – Going out or staying in? How would you react to a cranky cashier? Personality in 3 words?

1 lindsay April 26, 2012 at 8:00 am

girl i am with you on the control.

2 Karen April 26, 2012 at 8:12 am

I think your hair cut looks great! Loved your answer about the cashier!

3 Jess April 26, 2012 at 8:16 am

LOVE the new cut!! It makes your eyes pop because the emphasis is on your face now with your hair shorter. I dig it!! Of course I’d say that now that I’m such a huge fan of short hair now (who knew?!). ;-)

4 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) April 26, 2012 at 8:17 am

Love the haircut! Looks really good!

I like staying in. I would rather have friends over than go out any day. I agree with you on the grumpy cashier. You never know what the day has brought someone else, so I just speak nicely to them and move on. Personality…energetic, loving, giving (these are things I try my hardest to live up to so I hope they come through to others).

5 Tina April 26, 2012 at 3:18 pm

I think those 3 definitely fit you!

6 [email protected] April 26, 2012 at 8:17 am

You’re haircut looks great! I haven’t commented in FOREVER but I assure you I am still lurking away and reading every post! :)

7 Lori Lynn April 26, 2012 at 8:21 am

When I was younger, college age, I probably would have said going out. But as I’ve gotten older, staying home has more of an appeal, partially b/c of working all day and being busy. In college I worked as a Walmart cashier, and I think b/c of it, I know how they feel. I try my best to be polite and smile with them, though there are times where I really have to hold my tongue!

8 Amanda @FancyOatmeal April 26, 2012 at 8:30 am

I’m not so good in crowded rooms or ones that are messy. I have a need to remove myself from the situation before I start to straighten up =)

9 Nicole April 26, 2012 at 8:32 am

going out to dinner with friends? I’ll take it, but I”m with you on the no bar hopping right now. Cranky cashier? I’d probably just say thanks and have a good day. Love the haircut!

10 Ashleysh22 April 26, 2012 at 8:40 am

Ooooh! What a GREAT survey! You sound like such a patient person. I strive to be like you and get less annoyed by people ;)

Super CUTE haircut by the way!

11 Tina April 26, 2012 at 3:19 pm

I have my moments, believe me. And sadly I am usually more patient with the general public, but really have to work on patience with my kids. I hate that.

12 Ashleysh22 April 26, 2012 at 9:51 pm

oooh I have that problem too. I have a lot more patient for friends and strangers than I sometimes do with my parents/brother/husband :( It’s awful.

13 Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table April 26, 2012 at 8:41 am

I am so glad you liked Karen! You hair looks fabulous!!!

This reminds me… I need to make an appointment…

14 Antonia @ healthinspirations April 26, 2012 at 8:42 am

Love your new haircut. What a fun post, it’s great getting to know you a little better.

15 Alex @ therunwithin April 26, 2012 at 9:06 am

I really like the hair cut! I am so much of a stay in kind of person. usually I just smile my way through a cranky cashier, trying to make them laugh. I would say I am sarcastic, caring and hardworking.

16 Amy April 26, 2012 at 9:48 am

Just adding that I love your new ‘do’! Looks very healthy, stylish and sassy:) Compliments your face shape well!

17 Tina April 26, 2012 at 3:19 pm

Thanks!! :)

18 Laurie @Love, Laugh, laurie April 26, 2012 at 9:58 am

Love the hair cut, super cute! I have definitely graduated to staying in, but I like having people over to still feel social :)

19 Caitlin @ This Bride's Joyride April 26, 2012 at 10:08 am

Love the haircut!

I’d say my flaw is the same as yours, I always want (think I need) control!

Every once in a blue moon I just want to go out and dance with my girlfriends. But 90% of the time I’d prefer a night in (with my girlfriends, fiance or even just myself) to watch movies, cook dinner or just talk.

3 words: Optimistic, loving, of great integrity

20 runblondie26 April 26, 2012 at 10:14 am

Love your hair Tina! The cut and color are both very flattering!

21 Tina April 26, 2012 at 3:20 pm

That’s actually my natural color still. I guess since the lighter ends were cut off it made it look different. She wanted to do some darker lowlights and I may go for it next time! :)

22 Yellow Haired Girl April 26, 2012 at 10:25 am

Love that hair! Very, very cute!

3 words: sarcastic, loud, caring (heavy on the sarcastic factor hahaha)

23 Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean April 26, 2012 at 10:33 am

cute hair!!!

24 jobo April 26, 2012 at 10:49 am

Sarcasm! I love it! I can’t wait to meet you to hear it in person ;-) heehee! I LOVE the new cut!! looks awesome on you!!! I can get grumpy easily…when I am hungry!!! I think that’s normal though ;)

25 Calee (@chimes) April 26, 2012 at 10:54 am

LOVE the hair! I keep threatening to cut mine short again. I’m making the call today. :)

26 clare @ fittingitallin April 26, 2012 at 10:56 am

Love the hair! And you’re right, I would have never guessed you have a sarcastic side.

27 christy Hemken April 26, 2012 at 11:23 am

LOVE your hair!! I’m good with crowds (love to watch people), but I tend to have “ocd” when it comes to oraganizing and a clean house!!

28 Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers April 26, 2012 at 11:50 am

Can you tell my boss that today’s Friday too? I’m not sure she got the memo.

29 Tina April 26, 2012 at 3:21 pm

Dang. It must have gone to her spam folder. I tried to let all the bosses of my friends know. ;)

30 Heather (Heather's Dish) April 26, 2012 at 11:54 am

the hair is SO cute! i keep dreaming of going short again but it took me so long to grow it out the the length it is now. i think i’ll wait and do a big chop for locks of love or something :)

31 Samantha April 26, 2012 at 12:04 pm

I love reading these, especially the more personal question ones like this. You are a brave woman for teaching high school! I do not have that kind of patience!

32 STUFT Mama April 26, 2012 at 12:08 pm

Love the hair. LOVE to smile and be overly nice to grumpy cashiers. :)

33 Amy Lauren April 26, 2012 at 12:18 pm

I love this survey! I have to do it now. I also like your new haircut- it frames your face really well and looks cute on you. Plus, it will be cool for summer.

I like going out, but I don’t really go out with girlfriends. I usually go running with friends (coed group), sometimes I go to lunch with my coworkers but that’s usually a coed group too. And, as far as grumpy cashiers go, I just deal with it and move on and hope they have a better day. We all have crazy days at work, so I kinda understand.

34 Shannon ~ My Place In The Race April 26, 2012 at 1:05 pm

LOVE the hair!!! :D

35 Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon April 26, 2012 at 1:06 pm

I’m definitely a stay in kind of girl in the evening time. I usually prefer to cook dinner with a friend than go out to dinner with a friend or to rent a movie rather than go out to the movies. However, during the day I prefer to get outside!

36 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats April 26, 2012 at 1:17 pm

I am such a control freak too – I need to be in control of every situation! something I’m working on…

37 Danica @ It's Progression April 26, 2012 at 1:20 pm

I LOVE your haircut! super cute and classic!
I’m much more of a “stay in” kind of a person. My favorite date night is a homemade dinner, a walk, and a movie with a glass of wine in hand. I like to go out occasionally, but it’s usually not my top choice : )

38 Jess @ Blonde Ponytail April 26, 2012 at 2:27 pm

Your hair is smoking–it suits you! Would love to meet you someday–sounds like you are really down to earth and bring a TON of positivity to any situation!

39 Leonor @FoodFaithFitness April 26, 2012 at 2:47 pm

Love the hair! I prefer to stay in. Late nights are a thing of the past, like long-long ago!

40 Lisa Eirene (@LisaEirene) April 26, 2012 at 2:48 pm

I was a cashier for awhile and I hated the job so much. I tried to be friendly but some days it was hard. So if a cashier is grumpy with me now, I totally get it. I just leave them alone.

As for the sarcasm thing, I am too. I am totally sarcastic and often that isn’t picked up on in emails, or online. It’s hard to translate into written words! :)

41 Tina April 26, 2012 at 3:23 pm

Agreed. There really does need to be a universal sarcastic font. I can’t even remember all the posts I have written sarcastic in nature that people took me seriously.

42 Lisa Eirene (@LisaEirene) April 26, 2012 at 3:28 pm

Truth! And people are quick to assume you’re serious and not possibly joking.

43 Carol @ Lucky Zucca April 26, 2012 at 2:56 pm

Your new do looks gorgeous Tina!! :)

44 Paige @ Running Around Normal April 26, 2012 at 3:13 pm

LOVE the cut, Tina :) Ya look gorgeous.
I’m the same way with movies. What was that movie where the woman’s husband had a brain tumor and passed away? BAWLED. the entire time.

45 Diana April 26, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Love the hair! Tres chic!

46 Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile April 26, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I love your hair!! You rock that cut so well :D I’m sooo sarcastic as well, some people don’t realize that I’m usually always messing around!

47 Jocelyn @ Peace Love Nutrition April 26, 2012 at 6:06 pm

Look at you! You always look beautiful. I love long hair but your totally rocking the short do!

48 Cheryl @ Happy is the new healthy April 26, 2012 at 6:16 pm

I really like your hair! You rock it. :)

49 Heather @ Fit Mama Real Food April 26, 2012 at 7:07 pm

Loving the shorter hair!! And I’m totally a staying in person… I need to try and get out more probably :)

50 Caroline April 26, 2012 at 7:11 pm

I really like the new hair cut! When I cut my hair short I am usually a little stressed and filled with regret for a few days, but once I get used to it then I’m happy.

51 Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health April 26, 2012 at 7:29 pm

LOVE your hair Tina!! I do go out to bars on occasion, but I generally prefer something more low key and “intimate”. Oh man, is it bad that I don’t know how to describe my personality?! Haha I guess I’d say that I am sarcastic, quiet, and compassionate.

52 Michelle (Better with Berries) April 26, 2012 at 8:39 pm

LOVE your haircut!
When a cashier is grumpy, I usually just try and give them their space. I figure they have something going on and that’s why they’re a grump. I’m with you on going out vs. staying in. I love “going out” with my friends, but sometimes that means staying at someone’s house watching Say Yes to the Dress and eating cookies :-)

53 Maggie April 26, 2012 at 9:08 pm

I love your haircut! It looks so cute on you. :)

54 Lee April 26, 2012 at 9:41 pm

Cute hair!

Sometimes I get in a mood to go out, but usually I end up getting tired and wishing I had stayed in!

55 Beth April 26, 2012 at 10:37 pm

Just had to comment on your hair– I LOVE it!! Really looks great on you!

56 [email protected] rubbish removal April 27, 2012 at 9:27 am

Your hair cut is really cool. Your face looks more brighter and I can see true beauty glowing inside you.

57 Kristen April 27, 2012 at 10:12 am

I get told the same thing about my personality! I can come off very serious and stand-offish but am so sarcastic and goofy with my friends. I like to be in control of things also so your statements are something I always struggle with (constantly telling my self to take a chill pill)! Love your posts… keep up the good work! :)

58 [email protected] April 27, 2012 at 11:34 am

When someone is in a bad mood, I understand that everyone gets stressed out sometimes and try to ignore it or just give them a smile. But it’s when someone working in customer service is blatantly rude that makes me mad… there are plenty of people out there who would do your job with a smile on their face, even if they were having a bad day! Love going out with my girlfriends! Sometimes I suffer from FOMO (fear of missing out) when I’m just sitting on the couch. My personality in 3 words? Hmm… friendly, positive, empathetic (I think that last one is an especially important quality that everyone should posses).

59 Jen April 28, 2012 at 10:08 pm

I’m a little behind, but just wanted to say that your hair looks ADORABLE!!!

Also, so glad to hear that you had a good, lower-stress week – here’s to another one! *raises glass of grape-flavored vitamin water* :)
