Scenes from the Weekend

by tinareale on April 30, 2012

Well, not technically the weekend, but hitting up yoga felt like the weekend! Nothing better than setting a relaxing tone for a few days off work…and to get your muscles stretched out before your longest run ever. Winking smile

Friday afternoon, we braved the ominous gray skies and went to a local park for some quality family time. I love my special boys!

And my sandy girl. Dirty park sand made me even more excited for our annual family beach trip in just over a month! May and June are going to be filled with lots of fun travel.

I survived! And not only did I survive, but I thrived! The run felt completely awesome. I averaged 9:46 pace and kept it pretty steady throughout. I actually ended the 20 miles feeling like I could have gone more and had zero pain. Typically I have still dealt with some tenderness through the top of my foot and ankle following my longer runs, but that didn’t even show up. I’m thanking God hugely right now and getting super antsy for the marathon. Let the taper commence!!!!

I even had extra energy for some shopping later that afternoon. So many of my clothes from last summer, as I was still losing baby weight, are too big for me now. I desperately needed some shorts and also wanted to look into cute summery dresses too. The first round of shops I went into were a complete fail…then I drove to the big LOFT outlet. Yea…I found stuff. Lots of stuff. That store is seriously dangerous for me.

Pizza. Because…well, because. A weekend calls for pizza. Especially a weekend with 20 miles.

My current lunch craving, because we can’t eat pizza all the time. Darn.

To round out the weekend, a Sunday morning spent at church and a Sunday afternoon spent on the couch reading a purely for fun book. No pictures needed, but just what I needed.

Here’s hoping this week flies by since this coming weekend will be full of good times – it’s BLEND Retreat time!!!

Your Turn – What did you do this weekend? Are you going to BLEND?

Oh man 20 miles is amazing–you’re awesome! And that pizza looks like the perfect way to refuel.

I went home for a nice bike ride with friends I don’t get to see enough and I had dinner with my mom, which was also nice (I’m not going to argue with a Sunday dinner like old times!), but to be honest, I’m between school and summer school so I kind of have 2 weeks of a weekend on my hands. :)

Looks like a fun weekend! I love LOFT as well – teacher discount!! I have those shorts as well. They’re the perfect length! Not too long, not too short!

3 Maryea @ Happy Healthy Mama April 30, 2012 at 7:13 am

Great job on your long run, Tina! You are going to rock that marathon. I ran a 5K race this weekend. My first post-pregnancy race is on the books. :-)

4 Michelle@Peachy Palate April 30, 2012 at 7:21 am

Well done on the 20 miles!!! I’m the opposite right now, everytime I run I end up with a different ache or pain and I’m only doing a max of 10km (still a newbie :) ) Today it’s my glute, currently sitting on an ice pack!

5 Katy April 30, 2012 at 7:25 am

Wow!! Congrats on your 20 mile run, that’s incredible!

6 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats April 30, 2012 at 7:52 am

Congrats on your 20-miler!!! I’m glad it went so well!

7 Kristy @ KristyRuns April 30, 2012 at 7:52 am

Great run!!! You’re going to do great!

8 Lee April 30, 2012 at 8:03 am

Woo hoo, nice job on the 20 miles!

Is that Loft outlet the one in Commerce or is there a closer one?

9 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 7:07 pm

The one up 400. It’s not far from me. I’ll take you sometime. And then we get sushi. Seriously. Let’s do it.

And I thought of you during the run because at the end I still felt good but just ready for a nap. I remember you warning me about that feeling. It was so weird…like my legs felt fine to keep running but mentally I wanted to crawl in bed.

10 jobo April 30, 2012 at 8:14 am

Awesome job on the 20 miler and feeling great for it all!! I love your clothing finds!!! I need to shop like whoa. Perhaps next weekend ;-) Happy Monday!

11 Gina @ Running to the Kitchen April 30, 2012 at 8:15 am

1. seriously, Loft is like a drug. I can’t stop once I’m in that store. and their sales (it feels like the entire store is constantly 40% off) don’t help the matter.
2. Yes, I am going to Blend and can’t wait to meet you & everyone else! :)

12 Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean April 30, 2012 at 8:34 am

LOVE that dress! omg want!

13 Claire @ Live and Love to Eat April 30, 2012 at 8:38 am

I think you CAN eat pizza all the time. I could, but my husband would get sick of it. Have a great week!

14 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 7:05 pm

Oh…I *could* eat pizza all the time and enjoy it…but my stomach and energy levels wouldn’t. Haha!

15 Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health April 30, 2012 at 8:46 am

I’m so happy that your run went well!!!! And that you had no pain! That’s so amazing :) . LOFT is pretty dangerous for me too. In fact, I really want to go but I know that I shouldn’t because I’ll want to buy more than is necessary haha.

16 Heather (Where's the Beach) April 30, 2012 at 8:55 am

Woohoo – nice job on that run! And love the pics of the family at the park. Always makes me smile. I definitely agree that the weekend demands pizza ;-)

17 Samantha April 30, 2012 at 8:56 am

AMAZING 20-miler girl, you are SO STRONG! I can’t wait to see how you rock your marathon.

I wish I was going to Blend, I’ll be there in spirit. I am running a half marathon this weekend! :-)

18 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 7:04 pm

You’ll do great on your race I bet. So glad you’re feeling better! :)

And we’ll miss you! We’ll meet one of these days.

19 Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers April 30, 2012 at 9:01 am

20 miles + family time + pizza = great weekend :) Way to go! My weekend was pretty good too. Despite somewhat chilly weather, I still got some boating in on Saturday.

20 Alex @ therunwithin April 30, 2012 at 9:21 am

Love the purple dress!

21 Caitlin @ This Bride's Joyride April 30, 2012 at 9:24 am

20 miles, you are seriously amazing!!!

I LOVE the Loft outlet. It’s such a dangerous place for me and seriously I always walk out wtih at least 5 items! :)

22 Jen Correa @ Mom's Gotta Run April 30, 2012 at 9:27 am

Well deserved pizza! Sounds like a perfect weekend!

23 Jess April 30, 2012 at 9:31 am

26 Amy Lauren April 30, 2012 at 10:26 am

20 miles is so amazing! And what a great pace too, you will do really well in your marathon. I’m glad you had fun playing at the park and shopping too, I love that purple dress!

27 Sarah K. @ The Pajama Chef April 30, 2012 at 10:26 am

glad 20 went well! now that i’ve run several marathons, i actually really enjoy 18-20 mile training runs. they’re just a great time to think & pray & be…. and great prep for the race itself (even though they are so different! the race is huge & loud & unfamiliar.. everything a long training run isn’t, at least for me).

28 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 7:02 pm

I actually have REALLY loved marathon training because of the long runs. I get so much thinking done and really feel close to God and amazed at what my body can do. It makes me very appreciative of my health. I’m right there with ya! :)

29 Heather April 30, 2012 at 10:31 am

I loovveee ann taylor loft outlet! can’t wait to go to the one in Destin in July!
Great job on the run!

30 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) April 30, 2012 at 10:34 am

You had a very similar weekend to me! We enjoyed some major family time with a picnic by the lake, along with a hike, some pizza and some bowling! I love these weekends. I hope you have an incredible week Tina!

31 Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning April 30, 2012 at 10:47 am

Loft is SO DANGEROUS for me. Especially when have those 50% off sales….
I was there yesterday and easily racked up over $100 (when I went out to buy new running shorts at a different store!!).
I can’t WAIT for Blend!! I leave on Wednesday. This two-day work week needs to FLY!
Can’t wait to meet you there!

32 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 7:01 pm

How fun that you are getting there so early. I feel like I’m going to be the last one arriving. Well, not last since I’ll have my Atlanta pals with me.

33 Ashley @ Freckles & Spice April 30, 2012 at 10:55 am

I did some yoga and some cloth shopping for Blend too!

34 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 7:00 pm

So excited to see you again!

35 Laurie @Love, Laugh, laurie April 30, 2012 at 11:43 am

Good job on the 20!! That is awesome! I ran my longest distance this weekend too — it was only 11 though, no 20 miles for this girl :) I’m glad you had such a great weekend!

36 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 6:59 pm

11 miles is still something to be dang proud of! That’s no little thing!

37 Rebecca @ Miss Magnolia Munches & Moves April 30, 2012 at 11:54 am

Congrats on an awesome 20 mile run! Loft is bad news for me, too. Especially when they have 40% off the entire store.

38 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 6:59 pm

Yes. Like they did this past weekend…and it seems like every weekend. Hmmm?? It’s all an evil plot to get us to shop. But, hey, at least we have cute clothes. ;)

39 Heather (Heather's Dish) April 30, 2012 at 12:22 pm

i’m going to blend! :)

and i went shopping this weekend too, although it wasn’t totally my favorite thing. good thing i just have to look at my little guy to make everything better :)

40 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 6:58 pm

Hold up. How did I miss this? I know you’re closeby but I didn’t realize you are actually going to be there. Seriously…when did this happen?

41 Heather (Heather's Dish) April 30, 2012 at 7:42 pm

Yep! I’m not spending the night since Wes is breastfeeding but I’ll be joining in on the fun as much as possible :)

42 Danica @ It's Progression April 30, 2012 at 12:28 pm

Congrats on such a successful run, praise God you’re feeling well!
I can’t go to the retreat (college graduation this Friday), but I can’t wait to read all the recaps of it!

43 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 6:57 pm

Oh, yes. Praising God like crazy on that run. :)

44 Leonor @FoodFaithFitness April 30, 2012 at 12:35 pm

Awesome run! We had a busy, fun, family filled weekend. This weekend will be the same!

45 Kelly@Project-Fitness April 30, 2012 at 12:37 pm

The highlight of my weekend was making it to the beach with my girlfriends! As some of them laid in the sun, I went for a very long walk and picked up some sea shells along the way. I felt like I got a good workout in because walking in the sand always makes me ‘feel the burn’. Isn’t it the best when you’re burning calories and don’t even realize it because you’re enjoying yourself so much?!

46 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 6:57 pm

Love workouts like that! And sounds like a lovely weekend. :)

47 Paige @ Running Around Normal April 30, 2012 at 1:43 pm

20 miles…dang girl! I saw your tweet about running it this weekend as I was cuddled up in my robe! hehe- and that is AWESOME that you felt great for the entire thing :)

48 Heather @ Better With Veggies April 30, 2012 at 2:47 pm

NICE run this weekend – you’re going to have a GREAT first marathon!! I can’t wait to hear all about it. :) My weekend started on Friday and continued to Sunday @ 6PM – all triathlon learning, all the time! But happy to have finally earned by coaching certification – woohoo!! =)

So excited for BLEND!!!

49 tinareale April 30, 2012 at 6:56 pm

Me too!!! And I want to get running certified pretty badly. I just love to learn about all this stuff.

50 Alaina April 30, 2012 at 6:25 pm

Wow, what a great 20 miles Tina!! I have got to get to the LOFT because I definitely need some new clothes. :-)

51 Brittany @ Delights and Delectables April 30, 2012 at 9:57 pm

I love the Loft outlet! Can’t wait to see you at Blend!!

52 Bonnie April 30, 2012 at 10:43 pm

Fun glance at your weekend, Tina! And GREAT work on the 20 miler – you.are.ready for this marathon! :D Sure wish I was going to BLEND – have an amazing time!

53 Bethany @ Accidental Intentions April 30, 2012 at 11:01 pm

Congrats on 20! I haven’t come remotely close to 20, but I love when you PDR and still feel like you could keep going — it’s so encouraging!

54 Jocelyn @ Peace Love Nutrition May 1, 2012 at 12:11 am

I love Aurora Yoga Mats! So soft. I had a great weekend- went to a Rangers game and my cousin from Tokyo came to visit!!

55 tinareale May 1, 2012 at 6:30 am

Yes…Aurorae is amazing!

56 Heidi Nicole May 1, 2012 at 12:33 am

Congrats on the awesome 20=miler! That is a huge deal…especially when you finish feeling strong and confident! I ran my 20 this weekend too. I didn’t die, which is all I was going for!

PS – See you at BLEND! :)

57 tinareale May 1, 2012 at 6:29 am

Yea…didn’t die is what I was going for as well. Can’t wait for this weekend!

58 Jen May 1, 2012 at 1:28 am

Wow, girl…you are seriously a rock star!!! Congrats on your awesome run & SOO glad to hear that it was pain-free!

59 Amanda @ Simply Southern May 1, 2012 at 3:04 am

CUUUUUTE purple dress! And I am just awestruck by those who run more than 7 miles. That has been my top in the past and it was just one time! You are PHENOMENAL!

60 Katie @ Katie Without Restrictions May 1, 2012 at 9:02 am

Wow, looks like a truly wonderful weekend! I especially lo e the sandy girl. ;)
