My Fitness Bucket List

by tinareale on June 28, 2012

In case you missed it yesterday – Best Body Bootcamp Round 2 registration is under way!

You have likely heard about the fitness bucket lists going around the blogosphere. Not surprisingly because the idea rocks. I love fitness and challenging myself in new, healthy ways. So, why not have a bucket list geared towards fitness? It makes perfect sense to me.

My fellow Fitfluential members have been putting together their own #fitnessbucketlist for weeks. I figured I needed to get moving on my own. I did just that earlier this week when I had some down time to kill during the kiddos’ naps. Playing on Pinterest and dreaming about fitness goals = a great way to spend nap time.

Let’s go through the items on my Fitness Bucket List.

Races. Lots of ‘em.

Of course, I want to run the Chicago Marathon. I also have quite a few other marathons I would love to do someday – the Marine Corps Marathon, the New York Marathon, the California International Marathon (then, take a tour wine country!), and more than that! Besides marathons I want to complete, I have a few others I really want to give a try as well.

ANY Disney race. A Warrior Dash or other type of mud run race. A Color Run 5K. And an overnight relay race like the Ragnar Relay races. Yep. All of them sound SO fun to me!

As much as I do love running, I still must honor my love of strength training and other areas of fitness.

I really, really, really want to take a live Physique 57 class one day in NYC. I have to actually get my booty to NYC since I’ve never been before, but it’s certainly on my list of things to do! As well as more unassisted pull-ups. I still have yet to reach 10 reps of those since my fitness competition. Still a goal!

In addition to these things, I also want to do some new adventures.

Namely, hiking through different areas and white water rafting. No doubt both of those activities take some fitness to achieve!

Last, but certainly not least, is continuing to influence others in a positive way in their fitness journey and goals. I have already taken steps in that direction through becoming a NASM certified personal trainer, but I want to do more. I want to get my Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and RRCA Running Coach certifications someday as well!

If I could only achieve ONE thing, though? It would have to be the ultimate #fitnessbucketlist goal:

Helping my kids grow up with healthy habits. That certainly tops my list of life fitness goals!

Im not sure if it sounds…cheesy? and I love you added it in too
but right now my MAIN FOCUS and MAIN BUCKET LIST ITEM (only? tomato tomaaaahto :) ) is raising a healthy (mindbodyspirit) child.

I am doing the Color Run 5K in Nashville this October – so excited! Also, I am working on my Fitness Nutrition Specialist certificate currently!

3 Lauren June 28, 2012 at 7:44 am

I want to run Chicago with you! Let’s both put this on our list for next year. :)

4 tinareale June 28, 2012 at 1:23 pm

I’m hoping to do it next year. That’s the plan anyways. But we all know how my plans have worked out this year. Haha! ;)

5 Heather (Where's the Beach) June 28, 2012 at 8:12 am

I loved seeing your list = noticed you doing a lot of pinning the other day ;-)

6 tinareale June 28, 2012 at 1:23 pm

I have such bad pin etiquette. I always pin in spurts. Haha!

I don’t really have a Fitness Bucket list anymore…or maybe I just completed everything I wanted and don’t have anything to add. I ran multiple half marathons and set a time I will never again in my life run (1:31), I ran a sub 4:00 hour marathon, I qualified for the NYC marathon, I’ve done a triathalon, I once managed 15 pull ups in a row, I’ve been a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, and I’ve taught group exercise. I really just don’t have anything left that I personally want to accomplish. Now I just workout for fun and to feel good in my clothes.

8 Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries June 28, 2012 at 9:07 am

you have some great ones! after reading your’s, i realized i want to add a mud run, warrior dash, and/or color run 5k to mine too. they sound just plain FUN!

9 Sabrina @Work It Ms Jackson June 28, 2012 at 10:09 am

I’ve been seeing you post these on Pinterest. This is fabulous and I’m thinking about making one myself.

Like you, if I can my husband and kids to eat healthier and be more active that would be my ultimate goal. We’re working on it but it’s a bit slow moving at times. My husband is actually the hardest part about this. LOL!

10 tinareale June 28, 2012 at 1:25 pm

I find that the case for a lot of people. I’m so thankful my husband enjoys healthy stuff.

11 Maria June 28, 2012 at 11:29 am

I want to get my body in the best shape possible before we start having kids and create healthy habits that stick for good. I know that it’ll be something that I’ll be doing not just for me, but for them.
I love your goal about raising your children in a healthy way and setting good examples for them. When I tend to lean towards choosing something unhealthy over healthy, I think “Would I let my future children eat this or eat this much?”. If the answer is no, then why should I do it?

Oh and I’m with you on the pull ups! I maxed at three once but the last one wasn’t pretty. :)

12 Heather @ Better With Veggies June 28, 2012 at 11:39 am

My bucket list needs some more work, I might steal a few ideas from yours! I love that you have added a nutrition certification to your list – that’s a great idea! And the California International is on my list too – I’m thinking that one will be a BQ attempt at some point.

13 tinareale June 28, 2012 at 1:26 pm

Now that would be awesome…bec then you could go celebrate someplace cool like Sacramento or a national park or wine country (top choice of course) after!

14 Julia H. @ Going Gulia June 28, 2012 at 11:55 am

Great list! I have a mental fitness bucket list, but I should just put mine down somewhere. A Disney race (probably the Princess Half Marathon) is on mine, as well as trying out CrossFit. OH, and one of those 24-hour relay races, like Reach the Beach!! They look incredible.

15 Nicole June 28, 2012 at 12:13 pm

Great list! I started mine, but haven’t really done anything with it. I need to get on that!

16 Tempie (The Texas Peach) June 28, 2012 at 12:21 pm

I’d really like to run Disney someday too! I don’t care to get muddy, so I think I’ll pass on the mud races. :)

17 Cheryl @ Happy is the new healthy June 28, 2012 at 12:35 pm

This list (and lots of the things on it) is so up my alley! Thanks for the inspiration/leading by example! :)

18 Heather (Heather's Dish) June 28, 2012 at 1:14 pm

i love what you said about having your kiddos grow up with healthy habits. since i’m a mom now i always wonder how to teach Wes the things i want him to know, and healthy habits of all kinds are obviously at the top of the list!

19 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats June 28, 2012 at 1:26 pm

I definitely want to run a disney race! and i think it would be so cool to do a race in all 50 states! my DREAM bucket list fitness item is to run the Pike’s Peak Marathon! Up and down pike’s peak mountain!

20 tinareale June 28, 2012 at 1:27 pm

I kind of have a secret goal to run 50 different races in all 50 states over the course of my lifetime.

21 Caralyn @ glutenfreehappytummy June 28, 2012 at 2:11 pm

great list! very inspiring:)

22 Allison @ Running Through Red Lights June 28, 2012 at 3:33 pm

I want to run the Chicago marathon some day, too.

And I’m completely obsessed with all things Ragnar right now. My husband just laughs when I bring it up–we, or rather I, will talk about it at least three times a day! My goal is to try to get a team together for Ragnar Chicago next year!

23 Bethany @ Accidental Intentions June 28, 2012 at 4:38 pm

A Disney race is DEFINITELY on my bucket list. I’d love to give one of their half marathons a shot some day. I also really, really hope to run Chicago next year. There are some things that could make that a bit of a challenge, but I really hope I can make it work. I really want to run (or rather, complete…running the entire thing is 100% optional my first time around!) a marathon, and I really, really want Chicago to be my first.

Speaking of Chicago, I don’t know if you had already made/booked/reserved plans/tickets/hotel rooms for coming up here for the race, but yesterday when I was running past all sorts of people wearing Chicago Marathon shirts, the thought of you volunteering came to mind? I don’t know what their volunteer needs are or if you’re in any way interested in that at all, but I thought I’d throw out the idea if you still really wanted to come to Chicago for the marathon (which is a ton of fun, or at least was for me when I came to spectate last year).

24 @pluvk June 29, 2012 at 3:59 am

Never heard of a color run… that sounds like it would be crazy fun! (Okay, that rhymes.) I think my main goal would be for my family to live long, healthy lives. That’s SO important to me. And maybe do a mud run. :-)

25 Melissa @ Live, Love, & Run June 29, 2012 at 3:59 pm

White water rafting is awesome…I’ll never forget the time I did that up in Maine. It’s gorgeous and SUCH a rush. Especially when you fall out of the raft in the roughest rapid of the trip. O_o I did that. I had some pretty banged up knees and ankles, but my dad and the guide pulled me out before I got washed away. Haha.

26 Vanessa {BloomRightHere!} June 29, 2012 at 5:47 pm

I’ve never been a runner and never thought I would become one. But I currently have one thing in my fitness bucket list – The Disney Princess Half Marathon. I am slowly trying to train for this in February. I will be joining a whole group of people with running to support Rett Syndrome. We will be running because our girls can’t run. It is a super crazy goal for me, but i am determined to do it!

27 Ali @ Around the VeggieTable June 30, 2012 at 9:42 am

What a fun idea! I love your bucket list Tina :) Mine definitely includes running a marathon, running a Disney race (partially so I can visit Harry Potter Land lol) and I would love to do a color run!

28 Amanda @ Click. The Good News June 30, 2012 at 6:03 pm

Oh fun dreaming! I’m doing NY this fall & that’s on my list – WOOHHOO!

I’m burned out on marathons, so it’s have to be a great one to travel. I’d do Marine Corp and Disneyworld, maybe Chicago and the Nike Women’s.

Hopefully doing a color run some day & the ultimate win the lottery race would be the Big 5 Marathon in Africa with all the animals.

29 janetha July 1, 2012 at 4:39 pm

I looove your bucket list! Quite the aspirations and you will nail them all. Cool to see Ragnar on here! My friend’s husband was the founder and now it’s so big and makes me smile!
