Simply Bar Giveaway

by tinareale on July 11, 2012

I think it’s time for a GIVEAWAY! It’s been too long, no? And what would be better than a giveaway for a great and healthy snack. Something to complement those tough Burpee Blaster Circuits and to help you get all that protein in like we talked about. I think this is a pretty good fit for both of those.

The Simply Bar!

I first had the chance to try The Simply Bar during the wonderful Blend Retreat this past May. The company sponsored the gorgeous hike we all took…

…and I enjoyed my first bite of one of their bars (Cinnamon Pecan = yum!) after those hours on the trail.

Awhile later, I got an email from the kind folks at The Simply Bar asking if I wanted to try out all their bars and then have the chance to share them with YOU. I’ll take that offer. Besides, I had to make sure all the flavors lived up to the first one. And spread the love. I like to do that.

Now, for the details. What exactly IS The Simply Bar?

It is a natural bar that is all of the following:

  • high protein made with non GMO soy crisps
  • low glycemic made with just enough organic brown rice syrup for a subtle sweetness
  • gluten-free and dairy-free
  • all vegan
  • filling
  • TASTY!
  • all natural

On top of that, each bar has the most protein for the least amount of calories and sugar around. Each bar has 160 calories or less with 16 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber with under 3 grams of sugar. Win. Win.

Flavors

  • Peanut Butter Chocolate
  • Lemon Coconut
  • Caramel Peanut
  • Cinnamon Pecan
  • Cocoa Raspberry
  • Cocoa Coffee

The texture is perfectly crunchy and doesn’t have that dry texture or fake taste that many other protein based bars I have tried do have. I have loved having these bars around for a snack on the run or even for a quick, protein packed breakfast.

For the record, the Lemon Coconut is my favorite. I have a weak spot for coconut and lemon. Clearly.

Another personal plus for me is that the bars don’t seem to affect me negatively. After getting diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I made some alterations to my diet – including drastically reducing the amount of soy I consumed. When I ate things like tofu, I would notice it affected my energy levels and caused a huge increase in fatigue. The Simply Bars don’t seem to have that affect. I’m still cautious in how often I eat them, due to my personal health needs, but I’m super glad they don’t have the same effects on me as some other soy products.

The only “con” I have for the bars is that they are  a bit more expensive than most bars, but the high quality warrants it. They can also be hard to find. To check out where you can find The Simply Bar near you, check out the Store Locations. Or pick some up online – they even have a sample pack!  I haven’t had the chance to try the Cocoa Coffee one and I have my eye on it.

Now, for the GIVEAWAY!!!! One of you will receive your own sample pack that includes individual bars in the flavor varieties so you can try out the different flavors for yourself!

Two ways to enter:

Mandatory: Leave a comment on this post sharing which flavor you would most like to try or what most appeals to you about The Simply Bar.

Optional Extra Entry: Share this giveaway via Twitter or Facebook with this message – Enter to win a great snack from @TheSimplyBar and @tinareale - http://bit.ly/NgaAwH
**Be sure to leave a separate comment for an extra entry!!

Giveaway open to US Residents only. Ends TOMORROW NIGHT (Thursday July 12th) at 11 PM EST!

Good luck!!! Smile

17 Katie July 11, 2012 at 8:21 am

I am intrigued by the low calorie count. So many protein bars are so high in calories, and I’m still working on getting to a health weight!

I really need to look for these and try them out. I keep seeing amazing reviews. I love the natural profile of them. It’s definitely something I look for in a bar. I’d love to get my hands on the caramel peanut!

I would love to try the Chocolate Raspberry. Possibly my two favorite foods!

You said you had been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Did you go to an Endocrinologist for this? If so are there any places you would recommend here in the Atlanta area?

26 tinareale July 11, 2012 at 12:35 pm

HI Claire,

I was actually diagnosed through my general practicioner so haven’t been to an endocrinologist. Mine is fairly mild, though. I did a bunch of research and adjusted some things on my own to help out (like less soy, taking a B vitamin supplement, etc) as well as a very low dose of Synthroid. Wish I had someone to recommend for you!

27 Amy Lauren July 11, 2012 at 8:42 am

I’d love to try Cinnamon Pecan. I’m a big fan of anything with pecans or nuts, plus with running, I need all the protein I can get right now!

28 Holly July 11, 2012 at 8:44 am

The cinnamon pecan sounds delicious! I’m craving fall weather and fall flavors!

I would love to try the peanut butter chocolate because, well, it’s peanut butter and chocolate. Enough said! I also have thyroid issues and, like you, have to be very careful with my soy intake.

220 JJ July 11, 2012 at 11:41 pm

Hey Tina! First of all, I’m Canadian, so count me out for the giveaway :(

I’m here because I’ve been playing catch up with your blog and have to say TWO THINGS! #1 – - I cannot WAIT to try the burpee blaster workout. And #2 – - my favourite (even more than Rodney) yoga DVDs are by Eoin Finn. The best one is Power Yoga for Happiness in my opinion. The reason I like him is each DVD I buy comes with 3 or more different “workouts” on them. Power Yoga has 5 and they range in length and in focus. My two personal favs in this particular DVD are Magically Hips (your runner’s hips will love, love, love) and Daily Dose of Bliss. There’s also The Quickie, another one I turn to regularly if not for the name alone ;)

Anyway, I love him. He says cheesy things like “It should feel like ice cream being licked off your body” (that’s as racy as it gets and it’s my personal favourite), and he IS Canadian (there’s a website….might be called the happiness project…shoulda looked for you, sorry)…..both of these things should sell you on him immediately! Heehee.

It moves a little quickly through sun salutations for beginners, but I don’t think you’d have a problem with the terms since you’ve done yoga.

Phew. I’m done! Sorry for the long comment. Hope you check into him at least. I have zero personal connection – - I just discovered the little gem of a dvd one day while bored in London Drugs and I’m so glad I did!

Have a good night!
