***Registration for Best Body Bootcamp ENDS FRIDAY!! Also, please note that I have sent out some documents to those currently registered for boot camp this morning. If you did NOT receive anything from me, please check in that you are fully registered for the program. Thanks!**
Hello and good morning to all! Did you have a good weekend? I don’t really have much to fill you in on from my weekend, but I still loved it nonetheless. It revolved around family time, some relaxation, and quality time with God. Not too shabby for Tina. It’s what life’s about to me, so I certainly enjoyed myself. ![]()
With a busy week ahead, let’s jump right into today’s Move It Monday. I have a fun, new workout tool to share with all of you and a recap of my workouts this past week.
To sum up my workouts right now – I’m into cycle classes. And I’m into circuits. They’re giving me such a challenge right now and I love how quick they can be. Like the one I’m about to share with you. It took me about 20 minutes and left my body saying “Woah! What was that?!” Likely a little help from the new tool I used.
Awhile ago, the Fitfluential Ambassadors had the offer to receive one of these cool bags from Josh Henkin, the inventor of the Ultimate Sandbag Training System. I thought it would be a great tool to add to my home gym and the Fitfluential crew along with Josh mercifully allowed me the chance to review one.
The Ultimate Sandbag offers so much in one piece of equipment:
- builds core strength
- the unstable shifting of the bag’s weight causes your body to work harder and burn more calories
- improves flexibility and muscular balance by training all muscles
- provides more variety to workouts
- useful for functional training exercises
In fact, this sandbag training system offers a risk free 30 day trial and guarantees a full refund if you’re not satisfied. I did receive the Ultimate Sandbag system to review free of charge from Fitfluential and Josh Henkin, but I have to say – if you were considering trying one out for a home gym tool, then go for it! I’m a believer. The Ultimate Sandbag Training site even offers an online library with different video workouts to try out for free and a lot of other information posts to get people started.
I reviewed videos and played around with my new toy for awhile before putting it to work with my own little workout. I put together the following circuit for a quick 20 minute strength workout that got my heart rate pumping way more than I could have ever expected, as well. I have a feeling I will be using this sandbag in a lot of workouts at home. So practical!
SANDBAG TRAINING CIRCUIT
COMPLETE EACH OF THE FOLLOWING MOVES BACK TO BACK IN A CIRCUIT FORMAT.
Exercise 1 – Clean & Press
Exercise 2 & 3 – Touchdown Single Leg Squat (Right Side 1st round, Left Side 2nd round)
Exercise 4 – Walking Lunge with Leg Lifts
Exercise 5 – Squat & Swing with Bag
Exercise 6 – Plank & Bag Pull
Exercise 7 – V Crunch with Bag Overhead
I completed the exercises as a circuit by doing each move for 50 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest. I went through the workout 3 times, which added up to just over 20 minutes of my time. I was spent at the end of the 20 minutes! But I still had SO much fun!
Your Turn – Have you ever used sandbags in workouts? What’s a new workout tool you’ve tried in the last year?

Great review and the demo pics are perfect. Looks like a great home or take anywhere tool!
Wow, that looks cool, and so much more versatile than weights! Love the pics…plank pull looks fun!
I’ve been wondering where to get a good sandbag! Love the new workout
I haven’t used sandbags in my workout but it sure looks like a good workout! Thanks for the review!
Looks like a good workout! I used a sandbag for the first time about a month or so ago, but to my dismay, it leaked bits of sand on me! Ugh – stupid gym and their stupid equipment. haha It’d be great to try one that’s actually intact!
This one even has smaller bags that you fill with the sand and that completely seal shut before you even put them in the training bag. No mess. I had actually wondered about sand flying around too before I saw how it all works.
holy cow that workout seems hard!
Looks like a great workout! I tried a sandbag for the first time a month or so ago, but it leaked bits of sand on me! When you’re extra sweaty in the gym, and the sandbag leaks, the sand sticks! ugh… better luck next time
Ha – sorry I commented twice. Feel free to delete. My silly computer said it didn’t go through.
YES! Sandbags are insane!!!! Love them !
I was so shocked at how much it got my heart rate up!
I have been wanting to try a sandbag! Looks fun!!
Looks like an awesome workout!
This looks like so much fun!! I tried a sandbag once in a bootcamp class and it was great. Definitely feels different from tradition weights and forces you to adjust in different ways. Great pics of your circuit!
AWESOME!! I have been wanting to try a sandbag, looks like an amazing home workout tool!
What a cool little tool! I would imagine you can get some pretty great workouts with that thing. Noted.
I love my sandbag! you can do so much with it, and i really like how you can change the weight easily. i use mine all the time!
Those v-crunches with the sandbag overhead look really tough! I’ve never used a sandbag before but I bet they really pushed your workout to the next level. The workout tool I started using in the past year that I like are ankle weights that strap on. They really intensify ab workouts like the bicycle and even simply leg raises. I’ve had to workout my lower back more to decrease back pain during ab exercises, and these have really helped.
I have some ankle weights that I haven’t used in forever. I need to break them out again. Thanks for the reminder!
Cool! Looks fun and hard. I’ve been liking the big ropes at the gym that we use as an arm and shoulder workout. Stand in place, squatting, and whip the rope 25 times for two sets. Tiring but fun.
My gym just got a new functional room that has the heavy ropes. I can’t wait to find a time to incorporate them!
Whew! That looks like a tough workout, especially the last move. Zuksana from Bodyrock has had some great workouts using a sandbag, but tough to do if you don’t actually have one.
I’ve never even seen anything using a sandbag! A new to me tool in the past year? Hmmm… Can’t think of anything but in the past two years the medicine ball and the bosu ball!
I’ve seen sandbag workouts on BodyRock TV. Looks like a good workout.
I have plans to buy the sandbag this week actually. I’m pretty stoked! I love that you can change the weight and have so many options to do wit it!
Hope you do buy it! It’s really such a neat workout tool and so versatile.
WOW! That looks awesome. I’ll definitely have to add that to my workout arsenal! Thanks for the great post!
I used to follow Bodyrock and they would use sandbags, but I never bought one myself.. I always replace it with my kettlebells lol
Dare I say I liked this better than kettlebells because you can really toss it around. That could be me always fearing I was going to knock myself out though. Haha!
Awesome! I actually considered grabbing one of these with a Dick’s coupon I had this weekend. I wish I had (the coupon expired
) Seems like it’d be a great tool for training in-home clients, too!
It really is GREAT! I can’t wait to use it in a group client setting someday!
Gah! Dying to try a sandbag workout! The Plank & Bag Pull looks insane! We’re moving to a house out in the country where we even have slow internet – no cable for us! So, chances are, I’m going to have to give up my gym membership. Ah well. Or put it on hold for a while at least. It looks like I’m going to have to build up my home gym.
(So sad, isn’t it? lol)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ultimate sandbag!!!! It’s one of my favorite fitness tools I have! Plus, being pink doesn’t hurt
That looks like a kicka$$ workout!! I’ve never used a sandbag before, but I’m pretty sure I’d be able to put it to good use
That does look like it would be more fun than just using dumbbells. I can see where it would be a very effective and challenging workout. That Plank & Bag Pull thing looks especially tough!
love love love my sandbag. the SB pull is an awesome exercise, variation of it, do a walking plank foward (can even add a push up if you feel the need)and pull the bag, then reverese your movement and drag is backwards as you plank walk backwards. hits the core like crazy!
That’s it–I WANT ONE! Great review and great exercises! I am PINNING!
