Best Body Bootcamp Review: Post Pregnancy & BBB

Hello, friends! Another week and another review of Best Body Bootcamp from someone who has been through it all. I have known Katie for a long time through blogging. She was a roommate of mine at my first blog conference last year, in fact, and we have only become better friends since. When she offered to share her perspective and experience with BBB, I was thrilled. She had to work hard to stay committed with her young (and adorable!) son, but she still got the job done. When Tina began her Best Body Bootcamp, I was immediately excited. However, my mind was a lot more excited than my body’s physical condition. You see, during Round 1 of BBB, I was in my third trimester of pregnancy. Then, during Round 2 of BBB, I was newly postpartum, sleep deprived, and I’m pretty sure my engorged chest would have been extremely angry if I started these workouts.

I knew Round 3 would be my golden opportunity. I set a reminder on my phone, paid my $25, and registered for the 8 week long bootcamp. For those who are curious, I was 7 months postpartum when Round 3 of BBB started. I received clearance to exercise at my 6 week visit and started exercising regularly around 12 weeks postpartum.

Resuming exercise after having my baby was extremely important to me. I remained active throughout my entire pregnancy, which included running until I was 25 weeks along. I’d like to think staying active while I was pregnant led to my baby’s quick delivery and my quick recovery + return to pre-pregnancy weight. Those things aside, exercise is a release for me. I love the feeling of a good workout, the completion of meeting goals, the mental clarity, and the endorphin gain. Best Body Bootcamp provided all these things for me.

As a new and busy mom, I know it’s a struggle to sometimes 1) find the time to workout and 2) have the motivation to workout. I’ve been asked this by fellow mom friends and some of you may be wondering the same thing. The beauty of Tina’s program is that there is flexibility among her workouts. You are encouraged to make the plan work for YOU, so that’s exactly what I did.

I completed the entire 8 weeks at-home. No gym. No fancy equipment. I own free weights and an exercise ball (previous use: birthing ball). Tina gives at-home options for each exercise, as well as modifications to make the exercise less or more difficult. She also gave suggested cardio for each week. The cardio option is where I had to modify BBB the most. Some days I was able to get outside and run; sometimes I would play a dance fitness game on the xBox. Other days a long stroller walk with the baby had to suffice. Having the encouragement to make BBB our own, helped keep my motivation alive. I completed the workouts during nap time, after X was in bed, or right before X’s bedtime while my husband was playing with him. It is actually pretty cute when I complete the workouts in front X – he thinks that exercise ball is his ball!

Another motivator? Seeing results. I’ve never been one to stick to a routine that involved lifting weights, and now I can’t imagine not including them! My shoulders and back are noticeably toned; my quads are much stronger and I’m seeing faster time when running; my tush is lifted and I am loving weight training. You can better believe that I’m signing up for Round 4 and I’d encourage you to do the same!

Katie’s so sweet! Great feature and review. I am so glad I signed up again. I did not do so well with weights on my own this last cycle. But when someone is telling me what to do, it’s like I’m in school and getting graded- I took it so seriously! :)

I just signed up again. I loved BBB and am also so happy I found a way to look forward to my weight training sessions. My tush feels lifted too! Such great results!

I love how much modification there seems to be with this bootcamp. Sometimes, I don’t have time to get to the gym, and I live in a small apartment with no fancy gym equipment, so the modification part is so important to me!

That was a great review! It’s so hard to know what works and what doesn’t but a) I trust Tina and b) this seems like a very reliable account. I think just having structure and something new/different to look forward to each day makes a huge diff. Some people just say “I’ll go to the gym” and it’s simply not enough!
