If you read this blog, then you know that I’m not some sort of fashion guru. I laugh at the thought. Fashion to me is a higher quality workout outfit or a semi-put-together outfit from the Loft. In fact, I would probably choose the workout outfit over a new outfit from Loft. In fact, I often do. I chose to get some new cross training shoes and workout tops with the Christmas money I set aside for fun spending instead of saving.
I spend a lot of time in workout gear – between my own workouts and my everyday activities as a mom, I need that quality and functionality.
When the Sunglasses Shop site reached out with an offer to see what they had to offer, I wondered if anything would really strike me. As I said, I’m not a fashion lover and pictured the site only offering designer Hollywood glasses that I would undoubtedly lose or break as I toss them in my purse. My el cheapo $10 glasses from Charming Charlie work just fine for those purposes.
Then, the Sunglasses Shop opened me up to the sport collection.
Oooh. La. La. Now this is something I can get behind.
I have needed some sunglasses for running since, well since I began running two years ago. I tried running in my regular sunglasses which I always ended up having to hold as they bounced off my face. The only sporty pairs I could ever find at stores were made for men and looked like the Terminator with bright blue reflective lenses. So cool. Not. Even I have my fashion faux pas limits.
I spent awhile looking over the many options of running sunglasses. Then browsing by face shape and frame shape. I looked at the different brands – Oakley, Ray Ban, Chanel. I spent way too much time deciding. And I went with the pair that first caught my eye. You all know me. I like bold and bright in my fitness and running gear. I also know I like Oakley.
So, bold and bright Oakley Sunglasses for the win!
These Oakley Commit SQ Sunglasses are WONDERFUL! They are extremely lightweight and comfortable. Oakley specially makes the glasses so they don’t slip, but don’t feel like they’re squeezing your head in a relentless bear hug.
The lenses provide 100% UV protection, as well. They cut out so much glare and light, but I could still see everything crisply. I hate when sunglasses make it hard to see because everything looks darker or they barely help and you’re still left squinting behind the frames. Makes sense since the lenses are made with High Definition Optics for clarity and impact resistance.
Impact resistance = good thing with two small kids! Although, I do tend to protect my beloved fitness gear more than other things. Oakley makes that simple with the special soft cloth carrying case and hard carrying case for travel. All in all, so many excellent things happening in this pair of glasses.

Please, please, PLEASE don’t take this as a criticism of your resolution to choose joy, because that’s not how I intend it at all — I just know for me it can be discouraging when I’m trying to do something like choose joy but end up struggling with that for one reason or another, which just makes me more upset because now not only am I feeling negative emotion x but I’m also failing at what I set out to do, so now I’m feeling doubly awful. Reading something like what I’ve linked to helps reassure me that I’m not a failure when I’m not succeeding at choosing joy…you know, just one of those nice things that I would’ve like to have bookmarked on a bad day, so I thought I’d pass it along.
