What a few days I had in Los Angeles for the Nature Made tour! I learned so much about vitamins, Nature Made as a brand, the production and science behind it all, and even the crazy process of being filmed for video. I have a lot to cover – which I’ll do a bit later this week. For now, I just want to share a few bits and highlights of other parts of such a wonderful trip.
Both Thursday and Friday started nice and early for us. Since I was still on eastern time when waking up Thursday morning I had enough time to fit in a workout.
I ended up doing five of the Quaker 2 Minute Movers I shared last week. Then, followed it up with 20 minutes of a free Yoga Download since my hamstrings and lower back felt tight after sitting on a plane for so long the day before. It was a short workout but worked up a little sweat and got the job done. I still had time after my workout to spend some time with someone all too important – God. I know I have Him to thank for such a wonderful opportunity that I couldn’t ignore Him the entire weekend.
Then, knowing I had to be on camera, I cleaned myself up.
Thank goodness there was a Macy’s across from our hotel! I left my favorite jacket on the plane, which of course no one turned in. The temperatures were in the 40s in the morning and at night so I wanted some form of jacket. I think I made out pretty well with the one I found. In fact, I think I even like it better than the one I lost. I really lucked out for an option considering I wanted to look put together for all the video going on through the day.
Both mornings started off with a delightful breakfast buffet with the group awaited us. The Marriot Warner Center where we stayed offered many options. I went with the same thing both mornings – a small bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon + raisins, fresh fruit, and egg whites (in freshly cooked up omelet form with veggies, even!). Perfect fuel for our long days ahead.
Nature Made and Glam were both sure to take good care of us through the long days, though.
I devoured some fresh salads both days with a Waldorf chicken salad on Thursday and a piece of lemon dill salmon the second day. Yep, they treated us well. Although, our group dinner on Thursday night at Maggiano’s may have topped them all. Too bad the restaurant was so dark that I couldn’t get a great picture. The spinach salad and lump crab cakes were both phenomenal. Didn’t expect it from a chain, but I was very pleasantly surprised!
Once the business side of things ended Friday afternoon, we all got checked in to a new hotel closer to the airport and a few of us met up for dinner at the hotel. I got to hang out with some new friends – Diane & Sheila – as well as a blog pal you all my recognize.
Brittany and I met at FitBloggin’ and Healthy Living Summit 2011, but haven’t seen each other since. It felt great to reconnect after not seeing each other in so long.
Before I knew it, the time had come for bed and then to head out bright and early the next morning to the airport. Makenzie’s Pilot Hello Kitty helped me get home safely.
And then it was over.
So, outside of the formal Nature Made events, which I promise to recap soon, that about covers the trip. I didn’t get to see much of Los Angeles itself since we were so busy with the business part of the trip, but I still enjoyed myself. And I guess that gives me a reason to return for a fun trip in the future. I’m game for that!
