Random Happenings from My LA Trip

by tinareale on January 21, 2013

What a few days I had in Los Angeles for the Nature Made tour! I learned so much about vitamins, Nature Made as a brand, the production and science behind it all, and even the crazy process of being filmed for video. I have a lot to cover – which I’ll do a bit later this week. For now, I just want to share a few bits and highlights of other parts of such a wonderful trip.

Both Thursday and Friday started nice and early for us. Since I was still on eastern time when waking up Thursday morning I had enough time to fit in a workout.

I ended up doing five of the Quaker 2 Minute Movers I shared last week. Then, followed it up with 20 minutes of a free Yoga Download since my hamstrings and lower back felt tight after sitting on a plane for so long the day before. It was a short workout but worked up a  little sweat and got the job done. I still had time after my workout to spend some time with someone all too important – God. I know I have Him to thank for such a wonderful opportunity that I couldn’t ignore Him the entire weekend.

Then, knowing I had to be on camera, I cleaned myself up.

Thank goodness there was a Macy’s across from our hotel! I left my favorite jacket on the plane, which of course no one turned in. The temperatures were in the 40s in the morning and at night so I wanted some form of jacket. I think I made out pretty well with the one I found. In fact, I think I even like it better than the one I lost. I really lucked out for an option considering I wanted to look put together for all the video going on through the day.

Both mornings started off with a delightful breakfast buffet with the group awaited us. The Marriot Warner Center where we stayed offered many options. I went with the same thing both mornings – a small bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon + raisins, fresh fruit, and egg whites (in freshly cooked up omelet form with veggies, even!). Perfect fuel for our long days ahead.

Nature Made and Glam were both sure to take good care of us through the long days, though.

I devoured some fresh salads both days with a Waldorf chicken salad on Thursday and a piece of lemon dill salmon the second day. Yep, they treated us well. Although, our group dinner on Thursday night at Maggiano’s may have topped them all. Too bad the restaurant was so dark that I couldn’t get a great picture. The spinach salad and lump crab cakes were both phenomenal. Didn’t expect it from a chain, but I was very pleasantly surprised!

Once the business side of things ended Friday afternoon, we all got checked in to a new hotel closer to the airport and a few of us met up for dinner at the hotel. I got to hang out with some new friends – Diane & Sheila – as well as a blog pal you all my recognize.

Brittany and I met at FitBloggin’ and Healthy Living Summit 2011, but haven’t seen each other since. It felt great to reconnect after not seeing each other in so long.

Before I knew it, the time had come for bed and then to head out bright and early the next morning to the airport. Makenzie’s Pilot Hello Kitty helped me get home safely.

And then it was over.

So, outside of the formal Nature Made events, which I promise to recap soon, that about covers the trip. I didn’t get to see much of Los Angeles itself since we were so busy with the business part of the trip, but I still enjoyed myself. And I guess that gives  me a reason to return for a fun trip in the future. I’m game for that!

  • When is the last time you left something somewhere? Did you get it back?
  • How was your weekend?

Oh, that’s too bad about your jacket. I left my wallet on a plane once, but was actually able to recover it!

Can’t wait to hear more about the trip and I LOVE your new coat. :)

Looks like a great trip!! I have to say – I love a good breakfast buffet that doesn’t skimp on healthy food.

I LOVE that pink shirt on you in that bottom pic. I *almost* bought it back in August (good thing I didn’t – I didn’t realize I was pregnant at the time!), but it looks way better on you :)

Oh, please! I’m sure it looked fabulous on you too!!!

Oh that stinks on the lost jacket, but that one you have is super cute! Glad you had a nice trip!

I’m loving that jacket, T! Sorry you lost your favorite on the plan, but you know how the saying goes, “Where God closes a door, He opens a window.” Such a chic window! And I’m glad you had fun on your trip. :)

I left my wallet at my parent’s house when I moved to Chicago this past summer. Whoops. Haha. Fortunately I was able to get it back without too much trouble, but it did make for a boring couple of days, since I had absolutely no money or way to get money whatsoever! Glad you had an enjoyable trip out to California!

That would have been the worst to have no access to anything and just have to wait.

11 Paige @ Your Trainer Paige January 21, 2013 at 10:56 am

Sounds like fun! Love that pink top on you, Tina. So pretty!
I swear I lose cameras everywhere I go :( I left it in Mexico last time, and needless to say, never got that one back.

Ah, hate it when you forget something! I’m so glad you had a great trip!! It sounds like you a lot of fun– yay for blogging trips and making new friends :)

Wow, epic weekend! I can’t relate, but business touring for a brand like that seems really intriguing, I’ll look forward to your future articles this week!

As far as my mind will take me, I don’t think I’ve ever left something like that behind, maybe a toothbrush or two, but that doesn’t compare to a favourite jacket, well at least you got a nice new one :)

My weekend doesn’t compare quite to yours, but it still didn’t fall short of fantastic! The weather sure is different though, we’ve got a foot of snow here, not exactly the LA weather, but it’s still fun to go out in.

16 Sheila January 21, 2013 at 7:23 pm

It was for sure a fun couple days in L.A. So great to meet you and learn about you.

Glad you made it home safe.

17 tinareale January 22, 2013 at 7:23 am

You too! I love how many new people we had the chance to connect with. And definitely thankful for some fellow moms there. ;)

I just left one piece of my outlet converter in the plug of my room at the airport hotel in Switzerland. I’m so annoyed that I will have to buy a new one ($60+) when I only lost one piece of it — hopefully I will remember before my next trip since I don’t go overseas very often! I’ve done the same with the plug for the iPhone – grabbed the cord but left the little plug piece in the wall. :-( It looks like you lucked out with the jacket though. And I love the Hello Kitty pilot!!

19 Brittany (Healthy Slice of Life) January 22, 2013 at 7:42 am

I’m so impressed with your quick jacket find! I hardly ever shop so loosing one of my staple pieces would throw me for a loop! :)
What a neat experience and I want to hear more about it! Being that I’m not big on vitamins and supplements, I look forward to hearing what you learned and your thoughts!

20 Ali @ WHOLEistically Fit January 22, 2013 at 12:17 pm

Sounds like a whirlwind, but super fun, trip! Sorry about losing your jacket, though glad you got one you liked even better. Looking forward to hearing more about the experience at Nature Made. :)

Its always a bummer when you accidentally lose something, terrible feeling. Sounds like you lucked out having a Macy’s close by though. It must be a lot of fun meeting up with blogging friends and relating to one another especially in environments like this. I’ve never been to LA but really, really want to go!

22 Heather @ Better With Veggies January 22, 2013 at 11:30 pm

I left my first Kindle on the plane coming back from China a few years ago – that sucked! :( At least you got a cute new jacket out of your loss, right?!

23 Nerri January 23, 2013 at 12:44 am

I’ve lost countless jackets/sweatshirts/umbrellas over the years. Almost never got anything back! The food on your trip looked amazing :) looking forward to the nature made recap!

24 STUFT Mama January 23, 2013 at 1:57 am

Ahh….. so fun friend! So glad you had this opportunity. :) We lost a hat at the zoo. Still waiting for the phone call they found it. Ha.

25 Bek @ Crave January 23, 2013 at 5:34 am

Can’t wait to hear more!
