Friday Countdown

by tinareale on February 1, 2013

I’m heading out of town this afternoon for a women’s retreat through one of the Bible study groups I recently joined with some friends. I cannot wait. It will be just what I need. Since I couldn’t open my eyes at all yet again yesterday, I have to do all my work catch up, packing, etc before 2 pm this afternoon. Gotta get a move on! Hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead too. Smile

5 Random Thoughts from the Week

  • Why is Lasik surgery so flipping expensive?
  • Why are massages so expensive? I could really use one right now!
  • Why can’t our house play nice and stop needing so much work that eats up Peter’s time?
  • I have the best blog readers and friends around.
  • Is it spring time yet?

  • 3 – the number of times I scratched my cornea in the past month after wearing said brand new pair of contacts 3 hours
  • 3 – the number on the scale of one to ten that I will ever want to wear contacts again
  • 3 – the thousands of dollars I wish I could spend on Lasik (although probably more than that…how much is that Lasik stuff nowadays anyways???)
  • 3 – the hundreds of times I screamed and cried in pain and frustration yesterday.

Girl, enjoy your weekend – you deserve it!!

And I’m right there with you on the whole massage thing. I realized after a migraine on Wednesday and asthma attack on Thursday, my stress is taking on a physical form. I think I could use a massage too… ;)

Ditto the massage thing! I have so many knots it’s crazy. Also I had lasik done because I can’t seem to wear contacts without my eyes turning bloodshot. My insurance helped (although not much) and they usually have good deals, especially if you have good credit. I went to LasikPlus at the Galleria in GA (although online you can find the nearest location to you) and they were really wonderful christian people. The consultation is free too so it doesn’t hurt to try! I got a no interest for 2 years deal to pay it off, which with about 140 a month I would have paid it off in time. I’ll still probably use my income tax refund to finish it off a tad early though!

Also thanks again, I’m so excited to try them the hot oats and granola!!! I’m always up for quick and healthy breakfast options!

Have a blessed trip and weekend, you deserve it!

Lasik varies by surgery center and type that you get, but I had it a few years ago and it was $2,100. Not too terrible and most places will let you finance it. Or just open a new “0% for the first year” credit card to put it on and spend the year paying it off. Seriously, it is WELL worth it. Absolutely the best thing I have ever done!!

My husband had Lasik a few months ago and LOVES it. His vision wasn’t awful, but he wasn’t able to wear contacts because they irritated his eyes so horribly. When you take into account how much you spend on contacts and accessories, i think it pays for itself in the long run. Just don’t go to the cheapest place! Also, if you have a flexible spending account through your husband’s work, you can use that.
Hope you have a great weekend!!

Enjoy your retreat – always a good time!!
I know Lasik is expensive but oh so worth it!!! The year I went back to work (after staying home with my boys for 9 years) and getting up at 4:30 every day to work out is when I decided it was time – putting contacts in at such a ridiculous hour is not cool!!!!

Tina, I would LOVE if you would write a post about how your body image issues have affected your marriage – even though I have the best husband ever, I am still having trouble giving up control over my eating issues because I worry he won’t like how my body looks if it changes (even though he insists he doesn’t care) = just wondering if you ever dealt with that fear or if your marriage is better now that you have more confidence and a healthy mindset. :)

That’s a GREAT post idea! I will certainly have to put that on my to-blog list and hopefully get to it soon. :)

^Just read that comment and also agree thats a great topic to address. I think a lot of women deal with that and are more worried about what they’re significant other will think if they gain weight rather than how it will affect them, themselves.- Random thoughts from last week- why is the weather in Florida so up and down? What should I buy first, new running sneakers or a watch to track distance/pace/calories burned? Why do social gatherings (i.e. the Super Bowl) always revolve so much around food (usually doused in cheese for some reason)?
