Sometimes you just have to go with a little fun. Especially when your brain has checked out for the week in anticipation of your week long cruise. It happens. I’ve given you a workout, a recipe, a motivational thought, and an inspirational guest post this week. I say we do a little random now. And what else screams random fun than a blogger survey making its way around? I’ll share my answers, then would love to hear yours!
1. What did you eat for breakfast?
I bet you don’t need more than one guess…
Yep. The usual. Oatmeal with 1/2 banana and a big ole dollop of almond butter. It never gets old. Never ever.
2. How much water do you drink each day?
I’m really not sure on the exact amount, but I tend to drink 4-5 of my water bottles full every day. I just checked the size and it is an 18 oz bottle, so I guess that means I drink 72-90 ounces of water every day. I keep it on me at all times so it is easy to do.
3. What is your current favorite workout?
I really have such a hard time with this question because I truly love ALL forms of fitness. I look forward to each and every workout I do – whether a run in the open air, a yoga session at the studio or at home with Reflexion Yoga, or a strength workout at the gym or with a Cathe DVD.
I love it all!!! I really don’t think I can choose since they all fulfill me in different ways.
4. How many calories do you eat each day?
Ummmm???? I don’t really track at all. However, I did recently try out the My Fitness Pal app to review it for referring to clients and Best Body Bootcamp participants. When tracking for that I regularly ate between 1900-2300 calories depending on the day. I also know that I eat more than that when training for races. #runnerhungerisfierce
5. What are you favorite healthy snacks?
My two go-to snacks are either some version of my favorite smoothie blend or plain Greek yogurt with some fruit mixed in. They always hold me over enough and satisfy me with the fiber and protein mix.
6. What do you usually eat for lunch?
I get on kicks for my lunches a lot where I’ll eat the same lunch for a few weeks in a row and then mix it up. I have a bad habit of eating the same thing all the time. Lately I have been having a large salad topped with Trader Joe’s edamame hummus plus an egg and cheese wrap on the side. I also am a big fan of taco salad bowls, sandwiches, leftovers, soup, and sometimes even a classic PBJ with veggies and hummus on the side.
7. What is your favorite body part to train?
I love chest and back because I always feel fairly strong when working those areas. With upper body I can really push it and it hurts so good. I also love core and balance exercises because they always provide a fun challenge and are really so important. Give my Functional Core Circuit a look!
8. What is your least favorite body part to train?
Anything lower body. I feel as though I can’t push my leg training hard without risking injury or overtraining, so I don’t get as good of a “pump” feeling. I still really enjoy it but it always feels a little more lackluster than other workouts in comparison.
9. What are your “bad” food cravings?
Can I change this question? I don’t believe in food being “bad” by any stretch of the imagination. Enjoy whole, real foods the majority of the time and then if something less nutritious happens on occasion, so be it. Getting off my soap box to answer the question now.
- pretty much any dessert (although ice cream and fresh baked goods rank highest)
- a burger with crazy toppings and sweet potato fries on the side (always a post-race fave!)
10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?
You betcha!!! Again, a diet based on real foods is most important but we can still have gaps in our nutrition. I take a multivitamin, fish oil, and extra Vitamin B and Vitamin D. I think you know which brand…
11. How often do you eat out?
About once a week. We do tend to get Subway out for an easy dinner Sunday nights on the way home from our small group meetings. Then we will eat out about once a month for a date night. I’ll be eating out a lot next week, though. Hello, cruise food and local cuisine at ports of call!
12. Do you eat fast food?
Not a huge fast food fan at all besides Subway and the very occasional Chick Fil A and if we hit up Starbucks for oatmeal when on the road. I have nothing against fast food, but don’t think it’s the easiest or most affordable option so prefer my quick fix meals instead. More of my thoughts on fast food.
13. Who is your biggest supporter?
Definitely Peter! I am so blessed to call him my husband.
14. Do you have a gym membership?
The child care, spin and yoga classes, loads of great fitness equipment at my current gym location is well worth that $30/month, so most definitely I have a membership.
15. How many hours of sleep do you get each night?
I need at least seven. It gets ugly if I don’t get at least 7 per night. Which means I am in bed usually by 9 pm at the very latest with my 4 am wake-up calls. #callmegrandma
16. Do you have a “cheat” day?
While I do tend to consume more “treat” type food on the weekend, typically on a Saturday, I don’t view it as a cheat day at all. I don’t limit things and aim for balance at all times. It just happens that most social things (like parties or meals out) happen on a Saturday.
17. Do you drink alcohol?
Our final excursion for our cruise is a “bar hop” scenic food and beach tour. What does that tell you?
Okay, so I don’t drink much alcohol. I usually have 1-2 beers per week, but I do enjoy a good adult beverage and will for sure be having a margarita (or two) on that beach tour.
18. Do you have a workout buddy?
I’m part of a running group which I do enjoy running with on occasion. I also have people I love to see at the gym (like my fave spin instructor). I consider them workout buddies, but I don’t have anyone I regularly meet to workout together. I prefer solo workouts typically as a stress release and time to clear my head.
19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?
It’s been SO long…but I think all the ways it has taught me more about myself. Cheesy, but true. I have been through so much on my fitness journey – from obsession to binge eating to finally coming to a place of self-respect. It has been a life lesson and continues to provide learning experiences (like this whole past year of injury battle and learning to be patient).
20. What is the last healthy thing you did?
Sat down to an oatmeal breakfast with my kiddos. Smiling and loving is definitely healthy…as is that all too typical bowl of oatmeal. I guess we’ve gone full circle now.
Who is your biggest supporter? What’s the last healthy thing you did? Do you have a workout buddy? Or any of the questions above. Would love to hear from YOU!
