You have goals. You want to achieve them. They may feel forever away. You may think you will never make it. You may wonder if it will all be worth it.
Instead of using your energy with all of that, focus on TODAY. Just today. What can you do TODAY to take steps towards your goals? What active choices can you make that affirm what you wish to achieve?
Take things day by day by day. Otherwise, it’s only natural things will get overwhelming. Keep the big picture in mind, but when it comes to the decisions you make – take it one at a time.
Just today. That is all you need to focus on. The here and now. The workout you can fit in and accomplish today. The healthy choice you can make when sit down to eat. The positive words you can speak to yourself. It all adds up with time and it starts today. Put your energy there.
Just today.
What step are you taking towards a goal TODAY?

Bookmarking this post! I often try to schedule out my workouts for the week, which is great, but it’s daunting because I’m working through a yoga teacher training program and training for a race. I realize that I really need to take it day by day to determine what I FEEL like doing and what I can fit in. Just one decision at a time! Love it!
Definitely sounds like you have a lot on your plate fitness wise. Taking it day by day would be a great idea. Best of luck on your teacher training and race!
LOVE THIS Tina!! I have a habit of jumping ahead of myself and sometimes I really just need to center myself and reign it in a bit. Focus on the here and now and what I want to do TODAY, not tomorrow, next week etc! Great post!!!
I think this is great advice! It’s easy to get caught up in your goals and get overwhelmed
I LOVE this thought. It’s so easy for me to get overwhelmed when I’m looking at a goal, but really it’s about the small everyday choices that I make.
Great attitude about goals. I know sometimes having big goals can be motivating, but sometimes it’s just plain overwhelming. And when that happens, taking it one day at a time is key. It can still be rewarding and keep you heading in the right direction!
Training for my first half andn trying to stay on the clean eating wagon – with my crayz schedule it realy is a day to day commitment! The key is not beating myself up or throwing in the towel when I have a bad day.
So the truth! Do what you can each day and don’t let one off day define you. Like last week’s post on consistency – it’s not about perfection, but about refusing to give up. You got this!
“Today” is a much better attitude. I actually didn’t get to work out today because of my work schedule, but thankfully it’s only one day and not my whole week. Sometimes I get so bent out of shape about one day throwing me “totally” off track. But in reality, one day a time, one day won’t break my week!
Love that you’re having a good attitude about one day missed. I have done the same where I think I’m “completely off track” if my workout schedule has to shift at all, but its so freeing to recognize its just that one day. And I did my best for what I could that day. Some days that means no workouts to care for other things that matter…but then I know I have to make the most of it another day fitness wise too. Hope you have some good workotus coming your way this week!
I love this so much!!! Thanks for the awesome reminder. I always tell my clients this, but sometimes I need a reminder myself.
That is soo true! Everythings seems doable when you break it down into smaller parts. I can definately do today! Tomorrow is another story….but I will worry about that tomorrow!
I love this devotional & plan on using it for my group fitness class next week! Thank you for the reminder & for the encouragement!
