I Learned What Works For Me

Another Wednesday and another great story from a Best Body Bootcamp participant. Before we begin, here’s a little reminder that Round 5 starts SOON and there is a price increase after next Friday. Don’t miss out! Now, please join me in welcoming Kaila from Healthy Helper on the blog today.

Hey everyone! I am Kaila and I am happy to be on Tina’s blog today to share my experience with Best Body Boot camp!

But first a little bit about me! I am a college freshman with a huge passion for healthy living and all around wellness. My parents raised me on healthy foods and always encouraged a lot of activity so leading a well-rounded lifestyle is just kind of ingrained in me. In fact, most of my favorite foods and things to do just happen to be rather healthy! Although I’ve always been an active person I’ve never really followed a structured workout program or training regiment. This is actually a bit odd if you know me because I love routines, to-do lists, and organization! Bit of a type A personality, huh? All I can say is that participating in BBBC was an amazing experience. I not only feel like I progressed in physical strength, but I learned a lot about my body and what works best for me.

WHY DID YOU JOIN BBB?

I decided to join because I felt like I was in a little bit of rut with my typical workouts. I live in Buffalo and in the winter you can only do so many workout DVDs before going crazy! So it was definitely time for a change. As I said, this was my first time trying an actual structured workout program. I was a bit nervous about it as I sometimes struggle with finishing things I start. But I was determined to stick with it and see the program all the way through. Not only did I complete the program, but also I discovered that I truly LOVE having a plan to follow everyday! It takes the thinking out of working our while providing variety and the proper increases in intensity each week!

SOMETHING YOU HAVE ENJOYED:

All the new strength moves and cardio routines I was introduced to! Prior to BBBC I was stuck using the same old lifting and cardio workouts I had found online, but now I have a whole slew of new workouts in my arsenal. Plus, Tina’s innovative workouts gave me some inspiration to come up with my own workouts too! Also, I loved the flexibility and adaptability of the program! It’s not rigid at all and you can really tailor it to your needs and lifestyle.

SOMETHING YOU HAVE LEARNED OR SOMETHING THAT SURPRISED YOU:

How lost I feel now that the program is over! Haha! Well not exactly LOST, but I definitely miss having my workouts for the week already planned for me. It prevents boredom and really makes sure I’m mixing it up in the gym.

FAVORITE EXERCISE OR WORKOUT FROM BBB?

BENCH HOPS! I don’t know why I like these so much (because they’re difficult!) but they are my new favorite addition to interval workouts! My go-to for cardio in between weight sets used to be burpees or mountain climbers, but now bench hops make a regular appearance. Something about jumping over stuff makes me feel kind of bad a$$.

WHAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS HAVE YOU ACHIEVED DURING BBB?

I feel like I gained a lot of endurance and strength. Although physical evidence of this was sort of lacking, I know I made improvements! Just take a look at my Fit Test results:

I also feel like I tapped into muscles that I never really worked before. It definitely helped me increase my overall athleticism and reinvigorated my love for movement.

WHAT STRUGGLES HAVE YOU ENCOUNTERED?

To tell you the truth, there really weren’t too many struggles! The biggest challenge I faced was remembering how to do some of the moves once I got to the gym LOL! Also, I notice that I sometimes sacrifice form for speed while doing strength workouts…something I am definitely going to focus on in Round 5!

HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED?

I am pretty internally motivated because activity is just naturally a part of my day and its something I really enjoy. But I have to say, participating in BBBC with so many other wonderful ladies and having access to the Facebook group that Tina created was incredibly motivating as well. It was cool to think that there were people all over the country doing the same workout as me everyday. The Facebook group was also a great place to connect with others, ask questions/get clarification, and share successes! If the encouragement of others isn’t motivating, I don’t know what is!

ANY OTHER THOUGHTS YOU WISH TO SHARE:

Big thank you to Tina for putting this all together! It seems like a huge undertaking and a big time commitment. Thank you for always being available for questions and concerns as well! I cannot wait for round 5!

Thanks, Kaila! Be sure to join Kaila for Round 5 starting April 1st. Get on it before that price increase. Winking smile
