Friday Five: Scenes from Spring Break {Giveaway Included!}

by tinareale on April 5, 2013

Well this week went by in a blur! That whole “time flies when you’re having fun” rings so true, doesn’t it? As I mentioned before, the kids were out of preschool this week for Spring Break so we spent lots of time together. It came at the perfect time too. I needed as much time as possible to unplug and de-stress this week. For as many highs as this week had, there were also some lows.

You see, we also started doing some planning on finally getting big house projects done so we can seriously open up the option of moving. This house and the time it takes fPeter away rom my family to do the work? Gives me so much stress and anxiety. I think “time flies when you’re crazy stressed” also applies. Thanks to Molly and Tracey for sharing here on the blog this week to allow me more of a break. In fact, I foresee these two features becoming more staple parts of the blog to allow more of a mental and time break for me. It’s needed again right now. So let me know in an email if you’re interested in being a part of either the Fit Friends or Bootcamper of the Week features.

Enough rambles. Let’s focus on the good. The fun side of this week. And top it off with a giveaway. Game? I sure hope so.

Park Day

On Monday, the sun greeted us and we had some perfect park weather. Without hesitation, I got the kids in the car as quickly as possible to go and spend as much time as possible outdoors breathing in the fresh air, running, jumping, sliding, swinging, laughing, and playing. I even skipped my post workout shower to get outdoors ASAP. It’s been too dreary here lately, so this day was a much appreciated gift.

Speaking of dreary…by Wednesday afternoon the clouds and gloom and chill came rolling back in. So what do you do on vacation when you can’t play outside?

Movie Day

You cuddle up with popcorn and a movie, of course! Makenzie chose Happy Feet, which I had forgotten how cute that little Mumble is. And that’s about all I saw of the little guy too since they were done and wanting to run around, color, do puzzles, etc after all of 30 minutes. No rest for the weary.

4 Mile Run

Another highlight from the week? Sneaking out when Peter had to work from home on Wednesday for a four mile run. It was a lot chillier and windier than I expected…and I had only slept for about 1.5 hours the night before (stress = insomnia for me like whoa)…but I knew I needed that “me time”. I’m telling you – viewing workouts as “me time” gives that much more motivation. It helps me #beamazing. Or at the very least less tired cranky.

Amidst spending all that time with Makenzie and Braedon, I also felt a craving to spend a LOT of time with God this week. I had my little key chain of notecards with Bible verses in my hand 24/7 it felt like.

Bible Verses On Key Ring

I write verses on mini notecards as I come across them in my devotionals, studies, sermons, or Bible reading time. Then I can flip through things as needed for a reminder of God’s love and promises and to gain strength. I highly suggest trying this.

I also highly suggest trying these.

Chobani Flip Almond Coco Loco

I’ve been flipping (ha!) for these new Chobani Flips. They come in quite a few delicious flavors and the addition of toppings makes the Chobani goodness all the better.

Chobani Flips

  • Key Lime Crumble – graham cracker crumbs & white chocolate chips + key lime yogurt
  • Strawberry Sunrise – honey oats + strawberry yogurt
  • Almond Coco Loco – toasted almonds & dark chocolate + coconut yogurt (THE BEST!!!)
  • Raspberry Choco Fix – dark chocolate morsels + raspberry yogurt
  • Honey Bee Nana – bananas + honey yogurt
  • Vanilla Golden Crunch – honey oats & praline pecans + vanilla yogurt

They are tasty and have been a regular snack this week. Good thing the kids have their Champions Tubes so I don’t have to share. BUT…I guess I can share with YOU.

That’s right – a giveaway! You have the chance to #tastereal with these Chobani Flip yogurt combos when you enter a giveaway for a prize package including an assortment of the Chobani Flip flavors. Giveaway will run through Tuesday April 9 11:59 pm EST. Open to US residents only (sorry, international friends!). Enter through Rafflecopter below and good luck!

Disclosure: I received the Chobani Flips free for review from Chobani. No other compensation was given and the opinions are 100% my own. They are mighty tasty and I want to spread the love to you. Please review my Disclosure Policy for additional information.

I really like the keychain/notcards idea. I just started a new discuss/devotional type book and the verses it uses for being a confident person are amazing. I write them down in a journal, but I want something I can easily carry with me. Thank you for the suggestion!

2 Tina April 6, 2013 at 12:07 pm

I used to do a journal but switched to the notecards for the same reason. Wanted something I could always easily have on me.

3 Audrey April 5, 2013 at 7:14 am

Stress is awful! I feel for you! I’d love to try the coconut flavor, looks delish!

4 lindsay April 5, 2013 at 7:49 am

flipping love flips! and chobani! I’m not entering but just wanted to say I’ll be praying for some stress less time to yourself. xxoo

5 Tina April 6, 2013 at 12:08 pm

Thanks, Lindsay! It’s all good things and its in a much better place than it was with some decisions we made regarding the house and things to be done. But man – house stuff is a pain! It will be worth it though. And God will give me the strength.

6 Ali April 5, 2013 at 7:52 am

I’ve been eyeing the key lime crumble. I LOVE key lime!

7 Kim April 5, 2013 at 7:53 am

Not being able to sleep is one of the worst things – it just drags you down. I hope your stress decreases and you are able to relax some and catch up on sleep!!!

8 Tina April 6, 2013 at 12:09 pm

Things are much better now and I got quite a few good nights of sleep the past few days. Thank goodness! Because you’re so right – no sleep just drags you down.

9 Megan April 5, 2013 at 7:55 am

Vanilla Golden Crunch! I love anything truly vanilla.

Sounds like a great week minus the stress! I swear I am just going to appear at the Chobani plant some day. It’s only about an hour and half from me. I love Chobani but have yet to try Flips. Going to have to now.

19 Jessica April 5, 2013 at 8:20 am

I looooove the almond coco loco…They run out so quickly at the grocery store by my house though, so when I find them, I stock up lol. I still haven’t tried the key lime pie one though!

20 Tina April 6, 2013 at 12:10 pm

I wasn’t as thrilled with the Key Lime as I expected. It was still really good, but I guess I had higher expectations after the coco loco blew me out of the water. Regardless, can’t go wrong with it!

21 Lee April 5, 2013 at 8:23 am

I had they Key Lime the other day and it was sooooo good. I want more! I didn’t see them in the stores for a while, but just recently saw them at my Kroger.

22 Paige @ Your Trainer Paige April 5, 2013 at 8:25 am

Ahh – isn’t it funny (err annoying) that when we stress, we need more rest, but stress seems to prevent that?! Hope the big projects go as smoothly as possible :) Sounds like a great spring break despite the craziness!

23 Tina April 6, 2013 at 12:11 pm

It was a good spring break week with them. And yea – what is UP with that with the sleep and stress thing? At least its all eased down a bit stress wise after we made some decisions on things. Whew! This girl needs her sleep. ;)

24 Retha April 5, 2013 at 8:28 am

I’d like to try the almond one…I love all those flavors!!

35 Tina April 6, 2013 at 12:12 pm

It is heavenly. So coconutty and creamy and richer. It is higher cal (260 instead of the 150 or so of the others) but who gives with something that delicious? And its because of higher healthy fat content so I’m game for it!

36 Tori L April 5, 2013 at 9:12 am

69 Tina April 6, 2013 at 12:15 pm

Things should get less stressful now that we’ve made some of the big decisions that factored into that stress. It will still be lots of time and work but I’m feeling much better about it all. Thanks for the support!
