Move It Monday: Beach Booty Blast

by tinareale on June 10, 2013

Good morning! We’re officially at the beach and in vacation mode with my side of the family.

Follow along with the vacation fun on Instagram.

Hello Kitty says hello!

It feels wonderful being here with family, relaxing and having fun. Just what is needed. The fact that our house went under contract on Friday and is officially pending sale helps us to relax a bit more this week, too. YAY! So thanks for all the positive vibes and prayers sent our way last week. Winking smile

Now, let’s talk workouts! Just because I’m at the beach and chilling spending my days laughing while chasing kids in the sand and water doesn’t mean there isn’t time for a good workout. Normally, I enjoy running on the beach, but I figured it wasn’t a smart idea right now. The unstable surface would have put too much stress on some areas (namely my hips) that have been exceedingly tight from all the stress and house work. I know my psoas likes to cause injury in my body, so I treated it nicely with an alternative.

May not be on the beach, but still pretty nice I say.

However, a trip to our family beach spot just doesn’t feel complete without a workout actually on the beach. I’ve been doing it for years. Peter and I will go out early together to catch the sunrise, go for a walk, and then finish up with a workout of some sort – a run or a little body weight circuit.

A couple years ago, I put together a circuit workout for the beach that I remember being a lot of fun. I plan to pull it out one morning while here and thought you all may like to have it. To either save for when you get to hit up the sand…or to do in your gym with “Escape” (aka the Pina Colada song) playing on repeat. Whatever works for ya. PS – I give you full rights to enjoy one after this workout too.

Love that – I might have to give it a try with my group this week – beach boot camp 3x a week!!! (sadly not an ocean beach but the lake is the next best thing!)
Thanks for sharing this!
Have a great time with your family at the beach!!!

Great workout & love that it can be done outdoors! That’s the best thing about being on vacation..getting in workouts outside! Enjoy Tina!

I always try and get some good jogs in and long walks whenever we do our family beach vacation every summer. The campground I stay in (we have an RV!) offers morning fitness classes like water aerobics and Zumba by the beach so my mom and I try and go every morning we can! Something about being on/near te beach makes working out that much more fun! ;)

If I’m being honest, I don’t think I’ve ever done a workout on the beach! I need to try it though… I’m sure it’d be a fun challenge!

Ahhh… the beach! Glad you are enjoying your vacay! I’ve gone running on the beach but haven’t completed an entire workout. Although I guess beach running is a whole workout in itself!
