Fit Friends

Happy, happy Friday to you all! Who else out there is sweating up a storm? I for sure am. Just got back from a five mile run in the super heat and humidity. Whew. Now, though, I have to get going on the rest of the day. I have a lot of fun things coming up this weekend so I want to be sure all my to-dos are out of the way before diving in. I like unplugging and taking a solid break over the weekends. You with me?

Before I get going, though, I have another wonderful Fit Friend Friday feature to share with you. I’ve gotten to know Laura through the blogging world over the past year or so and find her nothing short of amazing. She’s a mother, friend, runner, and holistic health coach to boot. SUM UP YOUR BLOG: I share my training and running tips as a runner and coach, as well as things I’m learning as a holistic health coach, recipes and a menu planning link up on Sundays.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO STAY FIT? I enjoy running the most, but over the last few years I’ve learned to love strength training as well, so I’m now  including it regularly in my routine.

DO YOU HAVE ANY CURRENT GOALS OR RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO SHARE? In terms of running goals, I will soon be training for the Philadelphia marathon and my goal is to run as close to 3:20as I can! (Editor’s Note aka Tina: she’s a FAST mother runner, huh?!) (Editor’s Note #2: “Editor’s note” sounds so official, don’t it. ha!) 

My recent accomplishment was getting my business started this spring and meeting my target number of coaching clients and also having my first health article published!

WHAT ARE 5 THINGS YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT?

  • Running! It’s been my therapy many times in my life. I can’t imagine how different my life would be without it!
  • Natural Health: I could read about the healing power of food all day. I also love doing body type testing on my clients to help them piece together the foods that are best for them. It’s so fascinating!
  • Meaningful work: We are so much happier and filled with purpose when we find work that we love.
  • Faith: I have a strong commitment to my faith and have been shaped by it and countless role models in my life since childhood.
  • Social Justice: I’ve always been a sensitive person and am touched by stories of struggle, hunger, war or injustice.  I want to see us move toward a global society where food and resources are shared.

WHAT IS YOUR #1 TIP FOR HEALTHY LIVING? I think it’s so helpful to get away from labeling yourself (vegetarian, paleo) and learn to get in tune with what your body functions best on, with as many fresh, whole foods as possible but a little room for treats as well.  Life is meant to be enjoyed!

Nice post, Tina. I’m a fan of Laura since I always visit her wonderful blog. Anyway, my meaningful work is doing things that I really love. :-)
