Good morning, friends!! Did this week just FLY BY for anyone else? I’m sitting here not quite sure how it’s already Friday. Today is a busy day for me – run, park time with kids, eye doctor appointment, and other general day to day tasks to get done before the weekend. Before I get going, though, I wanted to pop in and say hey while also introducing you to this super lady for today’s Fit Friends. She has become one of my favorite blogs to read!
NAME & BLOG NAME/URL: Presley@ Run Pretty
SUM UP YOUR BLOG: Run Pretty is a place for me to share all the little details of my life. I blog about my adventures in fitness, family, food, and other fun things. I also clearly overuse alliteration, among other literary devices.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO STAY FIT?
To be honest, I currently don’t have a favorite way. Before having my son, I was all about running, running, and running. I wasn’t particular good at it, I just had so much fun out there. Now, I’ve added a lot of other things into the mix. I’d say my top ways are sprint intervals, barre, functional training, and yoga. I’m all over the place, but I’ve found that variety is the key to my workout happiness for the time being!
DO YOU HAVE ANY CURRENT GOALS OR RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO SHARE?
I feel like everyday that I get make time for working out is an accomplishment in itself. Anyone else with me on that one? Really, though, a big goal I have going forward is a sub-two hour half. My fastest half was just over 2:01. Bummer! I know that’s not incredibly difficult to accomplish for most people, but I tend to run half marathons on little training (bad, I know), so making time for actually running prior to the race would be huge for me. I’m really bad about putting in the work before races. I let other things get me off track!
WHAT ARE 5 THINGS YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT?
1.) Keeping my family happy and healthy. I really want my son to grow up in a family where fast food is bizarre, fresh vegetables are the norm, and playing outside is the ultimate way to spend the day.
2.) Keeping myself sane. Hey, just being honest here! Working out helps a great deal with this one.
3.) Inspiring others to make healthy choices. And, yes, sometimes indulging in the dang cupcake is a totally healthy choice. It’s all about balance, folks!
4.) Teaching youth how to take care of their minds and bodies. I’m a teacher and you might be surprised how many young children deal with insecurities, self-doubt, and body image issues. Not on my watch!
5.) Having fun. Is there really a need to explain this one?
WHAT IS YOUR #1 TIP FOR HEALTHY LIVING?
My number one piece of advice is to never, ever compare yourself to other people. You know your body best and you know what will work for you. There are so many fad diets out there, it can make your head spin. Don’t get caught up in the hype. Eat mostly colorful, whole foods that make you feel good. If a certain food or trend makes you feel like crap, leave it alone, even if it’s something that is "healthy" according to others. DO YOU! The same goes for your body: no comparing! Your version of healthy will not look like the girl next to you. We’re all totally different. (Read: healthy does not always = abs… just saying!)
