Holiday Workout Plan & Nutrition E-Book Now Available!

Friday Five 12-6

  1. I’m participating in Heather’s #MoveHappy challenge! It’s a challenge to workout and move your body in ways that truly make you happy during the month of December. I’m all about making things fun in the fitness area, especially during a more crazy time of year. If this sounds good to you too, then check out the #MoveHappy Challenge info on Heather’s blog! {image 1 from Heather’s Instagram}
  2. Workout 1: Physique 57 DVD. It had been awhile since doing one of these. I could tell by the way my booty was screaming at me!
  3. Workout 2: Best Body Bootcamp Circuit Intervals. They are just so FUN! I also received a GymBoss interval timer to review and try out. It made the intervals way easier to track and time.
  4. Workout 3: Yoga. You shouldn’t be surprised. Managed to fit in a couple of classes so far this week and have quite a bit more coming up for this weekend (see Fun Facts below).
  5. Workout 4: Hour treadmill session. Something got into me the other morning where I just craved a steady, long but low-key workout. I hopped on the treadmill for an hour of walking. I mixed up the pace and intervals throughout, but nothing all that specific. Followed up with foam rolling and a protein shake!

  1. Huge congrats to Christine on her recent yoga teacher certification! I guess when you’re tossing around the idea yourself you get amped for others’ successes.
  2. Do you do like to do an Advent Christmas calendar? If so, then Erin has a really neat DIY Advent Calendar. I will have to steal this idea next year with the kids!
  3. How often do you warm-up and cool down from a workout? If you need help, be sure to check out these 10 Rules Of A Great Warm-Up and Cool Down.
  4. Do the “Strong/Fit/Healthy/Etc. is the new skinny” messages used at “fitspiration” bother you, too? I’m all for focusing on health, but not tied to images that still tend to promote a certain look…which still correlates to a desire to be “skinny”. Janine does a great job breaking down the issue in her post.
  5. If you’re a blogger, then don’t miss the numerous links to Blogging Tips bookmarked and shared by Lindsay. There is everything from SEO tips to design to working with brands and more!

  1. As alluded to above, I’ll be doing a LOT of yoga this weekend. Like, two full days worth. My yoga studio is offering up 3 weekends of “trial teacher training”. And I signed up. The first one is this weekend. I’m SO excited. I’m doing it to get a taste of what the teacher training program is like, but I’m using these weekends more to deepen my understanding of alignment of postures. I’m a book nerd when it comes to learning about the body and fitness type of stuff.
  2. If you have been eyeing the Best Body Fitness Holiday Workout Plan, then you should head over to Tara’s blog Treble in the Kitchen on Monday for a special giveaway.
  3. Tonight is the last meeting for the year of the women’s small group I help host. I’m going to miss my ladies for the next month! I can’t even begin to describe how therapeutic a women’s Bible study and prayer group can be.
  4. And along those lines, I got to witness that power this week. On Tuesday night, my friend put together a prayer gathering at her church for her daughter. It was incredibly powerful to see so many come together in love and support and to feel God at work in that space. Just. Wow.
  5. I’m almost out of coffee. That means it’s time to buy bags of the holiday Dunkin Donuts flavors!! YES! Anyone else look forward to a special coffee flavor this time of year?

Oh, wow. What a surprise to see my comment! Very cool that you are exploring yoga more. I definitely need more yoga in my life!

I needed an exercise that I enjoyed but that gave me the same physical AND mental release/outlet like running did. I always loved yoga for that, but ran as well. I guess now that I”m not really running as much yoga has taken its place in that aspect. I’m definitely loving it!

How fun that you’re doing more yoga! That’s always on my to do list but I need to make it happen. Love the quotes- such a great discussion on your post!

Did someone say coffee? Yes, I buy pumpkin spice in bulk and just bought some candy cane. Yum!

Peter picked up all sorts of holiday flavors for me this weekend and even some other crazy cool ones – salted caramel, toasted coconut, and white chocolate mocha. Mmmmm! Gosh I love coffee. We need a coffee date next time our paths hopefully cross!

I’ve been doing more yoga too! Love it! Isn’t a women’s Bible study group the absolute best?? I don’t think I would be sane without my group!

Me either! And Friday night we had such a moving night…lots of tears and supporting one another. Didn’t discuss our book study as in depth but it’s nice just going with what is right and being there for one another. Too bad we didn’t live close enough to have a group together. How crazy awesome would that be?!

I’m SO excited for you Tina! Like you said, you get amped up when you see others pursuing a dream you have in common. I can’t wait to hear more about your experience.

13 Becky December 7, 2013 at 8:22 am
