Power Playlist: September 2014 Favorites

by tinareale on September 23, 2014

Hi, friends! It looks like I have a lot to say in my catch-up post, so it’s taking longer than originally thought. No biggie. I’ll just share something else fun with you today.

One of the (many!) reasons I love teaching power yoga classes is the music. The creativity of a playlist can send me right into whatever particular mood fits the class theme. Music can bring a new dimension to a yoga flow, helping me to get lost even more deeply into the poses. And, let’s get real, a killer playlist can be the driving force to help push through a vinyasa for the umpteenth time. Am I right?

To come up with my playlists, I have listened incessantly to various channels on Spotify…adding songs to my personal lists whenever something grabbed my attention. Occasionally, I would come across a web or blog post sharing a rocking playlist to take inspiration from as well…but those were few and far between. Which is exactly why I want to share mine.

Maybe you’re a fellow instructor and will find a song for your classes. Or maybe you come across a song you just love and can use for your workouts or personal practice. Or maybe you’re a student (hi!!!) who heard a song in one of my classes and had to know what it was. Whatever the reason, I’ll regularly share my power yoga playlists. Starting with this one from my class last night. There’s no particular theme to this one – simply a mix of some songs I’ve really liked over the past month. Enjoy!

Tina! Glad to see you blogging again :)
Love your playlist – and Spotify. Do you have a Spotify account? I’d love to follow ya!

I do! My user name is tinajreale (with a j – there was already a tinareale when I signed up). I don’t have all my playlists public really until I share them…but feel free to follow along!

I’ve only been to one class where music was played. It was a class just before Christmas and the instructor played Kings of Leon, U2, and Elvis doing Christmas carols.

Elvis doing Christmas carols? That’s…well…interesting. It’s true that music isn’t used for many styles of yoga, but I sure do enjoy it for power classes. And the music has to be the right feel. :)

And you already know that I’ve basically cribbed this playlist for my classes :-)
Thank YOU for the inspiration!

Is your spotify public? If so, I would love to follow ya to get music inspiration from you too. It sounds like we have a similar taste in music. :)

I don’t use Spotify but maybe I should? I’ll look into it and let you know once I figure it out :-)

I love it! 9.99 per month and unlimited great music finds, super easy to create playlists, can download them to listen without internet access. I definitely recommend it. It’s saved so much time for me!
