Exciting Stuff

by tinareale on February 3, 2012

A big happy Friday to you all! Let’s catch up. Did you have a good week? A great week? A flippin’ fantabulous week? I gotta say that my week has left me with a grand ole smile this Friday morning. I had lots of exciting stuff going on around here.

Best Body Bootcamp Challenge stuff. I’ve been hard at work on behind the scenes details to hopefully have all the information ready to officially post for you all by the middle of next week! I hope to see you all getting fit with me and your blog/reader friends in March and April. You want to be there for the prizes alone, if nothing else! Subscribe, follow on Twitter, or keep up on Facebook so you don’t miss the news!

Chicago Marathon stuff

I’m officially registered for both of my marathons this year. Cleveland Marathon on May 20 and Chicago Marathon on Oct 7. Lots of running…and lots of blog friends in the mix. I’m so excited!

Special features stuff.

I got an update letting me know that Best Body Fitness has been featured in the February issue of Atlanta Best Self Magazine this month. How cool is that? It was a complete surprise and I’m thrilled.

Racing fun opportunities stuff.

I found out this week that I have the fabulous opportunity of working with the ZOOMA race series in their blogger connector program! I earned my 1:47:41 half marathon PR in one of their races this past November and really enjoyed the experience. So when I heard another ZOOMA race would be popping up in April not far from my house, I immediately wanted to sign up.

  • it’s close by so Peter can easily come watch and bring the kids. Makenzie has been dying to cheer for her mommy ever since the last race she saw.

  • It fits into my marathon training schedule as a tune-up race eerily well.
  • Perhaps I can convince blog and running group friends to come run it with me. I promise to bring you all to donut heaven after the race!

dutch monkey

  • It’s the end of April, so should be fabulous running weather in the early morning!

Yea. It sounded like a fabulous race and I got more than a little giddy when I received the offer to join forces with ZOOMA and help promote a race that I would have naturally promoted anyways. Because, let’s be real. A half…in my backyard…with a race series I’ve already witnessed as a well-organized group?? No question!

The low down:

Who? ZOOMA – a group with a mission to encourage women to live healthy, full lives.

What? Half Marathon and 5K Race

When? Sunday, April 22 @ 7:30 am

Where? Lake Lanier Islands Resort for a scenic route along the lake

Why? Fun! And so we can hang out together…and you can meet the munchkins.

If you’re local (or local enough to come visit!), register and receive a discount! $10 off the half marathon and $5 off the 5K registration fees. Just use the code ATLCON7

For more information please visit the ZOOMA Atlanta website and click here to register. Don’t forget the code! Soooo….who have I convinced to run with me??

Question of the day: What was the best thing to happen to you this week?

1 Khushboo February 3, 2012 at 7:06 am

Woo congrats on registering in BOTH your marathons- big goals, big dreams…I like it :) ! Not sure it’s the best thing that has happened to me this week but it’s pretty sweet: I managed to lift heavier on almost all body parts this week- motivating to see the hard work pay off!

2 Liz (Little Bitty Bakes) February 3, 2012 at 7:10 am

Ahh, I want to register for Chicago, but I can’t decide which fall race I want to do! I’ve always wanted to visit Chicago though…

3 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:01 pm

Do Chicago! And if you do, sign up fast because it’s apparently already at 30,000+ and will likely be closed not too long from now.

4 Liz (Little Bitty Bakes) February 4, 2012 at 10:29 am

I signed up this morning, we can be virtual training buds!

5 tinareale February 4, 2012 at 10:32 am

I’m doing a happy dance right now!

6 April February 3, 2012 at 7:12 am

Hi! I’ve been reading your (awesome) blog for a few months now but never commented. My twin sis and I are running the Zooma 5k in Atlanta! We’re from Columbus but are traveling up to support my friend Karen running the 1/2. Maybe we’ll see you there :) Have a great weekend!

7 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:01 pm

Oh, awesome!!! I sure hope to see you there. I would love to meet up. :)

8 chelsey @ clean eating chelsey February 3, 2012 at 7:17 am

The best thing that happened to me this week was talking to you and you telling me that you’re officially coming to stay with meeeeeeeee!!! No joke, best thing.

9 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:02 pm

You KNOW that’s one of the biggest reasons I’m excited about Chicago, right?? ;)

Just promise no creepy pictures. Ha!

10 Nicole February 3, 2012 at 7:28 am

That’s so excited you were featured! If i was close to you I’d participate in the race. Congrats for signing up for both marathons too!

11 Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health February 3, 2012 at 7:28 am

Yay for being signed up for both marathons!! That’s so exciting :D . And that’s really neat that you’re working with Zooma- I like what their mission is! Oh, and Makenzie looks absolutely adorable holding that sign!!

12 Coco February 3, 2012 at 7:32 am

How exciting! I did the Zooma Annapolis Half last year and it was good — except for the hills. Why do Zooma courses always have wicked hills??

13 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:03 pm

They do LOVE the hills! I know the area I live in is super hilly so I have no doubt this course will have tons.

14 Heather (Heather's Dish) February 3, 2012 at 7:33 am

congratulations on being featured! it sounds like you’ve had an awesome week, what better way to start the weekend?!

15 jana @ newly wife healthy life February 3, 2012 at 7:34 am

The Chicago Marathon is on my bucket list! I love the city, and what better way to experience it than running through it? :-) The best thing to happen to me this week was meeting my work out goals and taking my dog Tebow to puppy preschool for the first time, ahh it was so cute! lol

16 Lauren @ What Lauren Likes February 3, 2012 at 7:39 am

woot! Congrats girl! Sounds fun :)

17 Kinley @ Better Off Barefoot February 3, 2012 at 7:49 am

Ok, I thought it was a small world that we both signed up for two marathons this year but it gets better… they are all on the same days!! I am doing one in Green Bay on May 20th and one in Milwaukee on Oct 7th! Haha! I’ll try not to get too discouraged by your awesome running reports as mine have been lackluster and nonexistence at best lately :D Have a great weekend!

18 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:04 pm

That is crazy!! We’ll get to race virtually together. And I know you will do awesome!

19 Maryea @ Happy Healthy Mama February 3, 2012 at 7:56 am

Congrats on your magazine feature–very cool. I saw that the Cleveland Marathon also has a 10K that day and I’m thinking about running it. Maybe I’ll see you there! :-)

20 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:05 pm

Alicia from the blog Poise In Parma is going to be in the works for a big blogger meetup for that race because there is a good group of bloggers running it. You should do the 10K!

21 Lori Lynn February 3, 2012 at 8:11 am

My best thing was that I worked up the courage to tell my principals (I’m at 2 schools) that I’m leaving teaching at the end of this year. (Though I don’t know what I’m going to be doing yet!) Big changes!!

22 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:05 pm

Congrats! I know how scary that is to do, but it’s so important to go for what feels right. :)

23 Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table February 3, 2012 at 8:19 am

SO much awesome news! Congrats. :)

I heard Chicago is one of the best Marathons – can’t wait to hear what you think.

24 Lee February 3, 2012 at 8:19 am

It’s the day after my birthday so I probably won’t be running it, but Jason and I have talked about doing that Roswell 5K the day before. Or going to DC.

Congrats on everything. You’ve had a great week! Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Murphy is going to be so happy that people are coming over to see him!

25 Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots February 3, 2012 at 8:27 am

congrats on your feature! that is awesome you signed up for 2 marathons! You will rock them both

26 Cheryl @ eatplayluvblog February 3, 2012 at 8:33 am

Your Friday posts make me happy. You always take such a positive spin. :)

I also was excited about that picture — I don’t know what a “dutch monkey” is but it was interesting enough for me to click on! haha.

Best thing to happen this week was finding a new lulu sweater. Retail therapy.

27 Jess February 3, 2012 at 8:36 am

SO many fun running related updates in here! I especially love the Chicago Marathon piece, obviously ;-)

Rock on sista!

28 Lindsay @ Lindsay's List February 3, 2012 at 8:40 am

That race looks FUN! I love Lake Lanier!

29 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:07 pm

Come do it with me!!!!!!! That way we can keep the trend going and see each other in March, April, AND May! ;)

30 Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile February 3, 2012 at 8:46 am

Congrats on signing up for both marathons!! So exciting :D Can’t wait to read all about them !

31 rhonda February 3, 2012 at 8:50 am

I think I’m going to cry! :0( Guess it wasn’t ment to be!( I’ll be fine)

32 Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean February 3, 2012 at 8:51 am

33 Heather @ Run Eat Play February 3, 2012 at 9:17 am

Congrats on the magazine feature! And two marathons is awesome! One is on my bday and one is where I live. Funny!
By week has been pretty basic, nothing to exciting.

34 Mattie @ Comfy and Confident February 3, 2012 at 9:39 am

the best thing to happen to me this week is that its Friday and I have a fun weekend planned with old friends! yayay

35 Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning February 3, 2012 at 9:49 am

This might sound silly, but the best thing about this week was just surviving it! I had a 13- hour work day in the middle of the week that has just left me exhausted. I’m so happy that Friday is finally here!
Congrats on the magazine press!
And, I love the sign saying “the finish is worth it!” I would like to have someone run in front of me wearing that on that back of their t-shirt. :)

36 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:09 pm

Oh, ouch! You definitely are in need of a chill weekend. Enjoy it!

37 corey @ learning patience February 3, 2012 at 10:23 am

so cool getting featured – nice work. congrats on your marathon sign ups…you are goign to do so great! :-)

xoxo from Trinidad

38 Bianca @ Confessions of a Chocoholic February 3, 2012 at 10:55 am

The best thing that happened to me this week was taking a hot vinyasa yoga WITH MUSIC class! Very fun :)

Good luck with all the races Tina!!

39 jobo February 3, 2012 at 10:56 am

Wow, this is awesome Tina!!! I can’t wait to cheer you on along with my sis :-) And the Zooma half sounds just fabulous as well!!!

40 Cat @Breakfast to Bed February 3, 2012 at 11:04 am

not one, but two marys in your first year running the full shebang. Awesome!!!

41 Michelle February 3, 2012 at 11:10 am

Eeek on registering for Chicago! I’m really so excited for you.

I am really tempted by that 1/2 — if only I didn’t have 100 million things going on this spring. Boo! I really want to run another race with you (or – in the same town as you!).

42 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:09 pm

Sneak away…

43 Shannon ~ My Place In The Race February 3, 2012 at 11:15 am

Yaaaay! TWO marathons!! You’re my hero! :D

44 Rachel @RunningRachel February 3, 2012 at 11:17 am

Wow! How exciting!! TWO!?! You are a stud muffin! :) Way to go!

45 RunEatRepeat February 3, 2012 at 11:45 am

I’m almost convinced :) If it wasn’t so far…

46 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:10 pm

What?! Only across the country…that’s not too far. ;)

47 Andrea @ Vegvacious February 3, 2012 at 11:47 am

Things really do seem fabulous for you! No wonder you’re sporting a big ol’ smile today!

48 [email protected] for the Soul February 3, 2012 at 11:48 am

Woowhooo congratulations on all these awesome opportunities Tina! :D I wish I were there to cheer you on–but I’m afraid that I’m on the other side of the country…

Oh!! I do have great news this week! first of all, God is truly so goood and loving and kind….when things don’t seem to have ANY hope whatsoever, He provides! After many mental and emotional challenges and trusting in Him, Greg got hired to become the pastor where he was preaching at as a fill-in! It was a long process but once we got the news, we were like “hallelujjjjjahhhh!!!!!!!!!!” :P It was a scary moment for us b/c as you know, we’re getting married in less than 2 months, but God is always on time. It was also a great reminder/lesson that even when we don’t get things the way we wish or think they should go, He still deserves our praise.

49 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:11 pm

Amazing!!!! God is SO good. Congrats to Greg! :)

50 Bethany @ Accidental Intentions February 3, 2012 at 11:49 am

I was thinking about you on Wednesday when registration opened! So glad you got in!

51 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) February 3, 2012 at 12:42 pm

Congrats on the races and the magazine! That’s awesome! I wish I felt more confident about running at this point, I would definitely sign up for that race here, but I’m not sure when I stand with running. I need to get some shoes and try to understand it a little more.

52 Carol @ Lucky Zucca February 3, 2012 at 12:49 pm

Congratulations on EVERYTHING Tina!! I am so happy for you!! I wish I could do the Zooma race but it is the weekend before my half that I’m already signed up for. Next time!

53 Stacy @ Stacy Eats February 3, 2012 at 1:08 pm

Woot woot! I’m already signed up!! Can’t wait. And especially can’t wait to meet your two little ones.
Congrats on the magazine, Zooma and signing up for TWO marathons, girl!!!

54 Lindsay @ FuelMyFamily February 3, 2012 at 1:17 pm

Ah the spring weather is really making me want to sign up for races as well! Unfortunately my milk supply starts to lessen when I run anything past 4 or 5 miles so I guess training for another half marathon with have to wait until fall or next spring. Maybe some 5 K’s! Why is racing so addicting?

55 tinareale February 3, 2012 at 3:12 pm

It is SO addicting. Gotta care for the little ones first, though. I wish my milk didn’t just go caput at 7 months post partum. It did with both kids at the same time no matter what I did.

56 Heather @ Better With Veggies February 3, 2012 at 1:41 pm

Hmmm…this looks tempting. I’ve decided not to race a half ironman this year, so it might fit into my schedule…

57 Carolyn @HealthierGirl February 3, 2012 at 2:29 pm

Wow – congratulations on everything – lots going on!

The best thing that happened to me this week was reconnecting with an old friend. :)

58 [email protected] EnjoyYourHealthyLife February 3, 2012 at 3:21 pm

Such exciting stuff!! Goooo you!! COngrats :)

59 Marty February 3, 2012 at 3:26 pm

Best thing that happened this week was getting my 2nd best time in the ING Miami Half Marathon (especially after a 4 week injury…talk about a training setback!) and registering for an Olympic distance triathlon. I’ve only completed sprint triathlons before so I’m extremely excited to try out this distance!

60 STUFT Mama February 3, 2012 at 3:30 pm

Yippee! Such fun stuff Tina! So awesome that you were featured AND sooo excited for you to run your marathons. A lot of training, but sk worth it. Wish you lived closer so we could run one together! :)

61 Madeline @ Food, Fitness, and Family February 3, 2012 at 3:39 pm

Hmmm … kind of tempted to run that race! We are moving to GA the week before haha. Tempting …

62 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats February 3, 2012 at 3:49 pm

Sounds like an awesome week! The best thing that happened to me was registering for the Chicago Marathon!!!!! I’m so freaked out and so excited! I hope we can do a blogger get together too so we can meet!

63 Michele @ nycrunningmama February 3, 2012 at 4:08 pm

Yay! Congrats on signing up for the Chicago Marathon – sounds like so many of you FFers are doing it – I’m super jealous! Plus, I’ve always wanted to visit Chicago…maybe next year…
Love the idea of doing a race and having your kids there – I am anxiously awaiting the day when my son is old enough to really understand what I’m doing and what he (hopefully) will be cheering for!!!

64 Diana February 3, 2012 at 4:33 pm

Ooh I wish I could run Zooma with ya! But I AM running Chicago!!! I’m super excited, but also a little nervous about having to train in, um, August. I know you’ll have lots of motivating running posts for me though! :)

65 Ana Maria February 3, 2012 at 5:23 pm

My dad’s running the Chicago Marathon – I might be tagging along and if so, I’ll cheer you on, too! :)

66 Julie February 3, 2012 at 5:52 pm

Congrats on the magazine feature! I’ve never done a ZOOMA race, but I’ve heard great things about them. Maybe one day when I can travel more I will.

67 Kris | iheartwellness.com February 3, 2012 at 6:44 pm

Ahh I love your posts and I love Donuts!!! LOL!

I think the best thing to happen to me all week was setting up the Top Secret I Heart Wellness Facebook group {love it!} and coaching!! Oh yea…getting back into my workouts too!

68 Pure2raw twins February 3, 2012 at 10:25 pm

yay for Zooma! Last year I worked one of their events with my older sister. Great group of people, you are going to have a blast!

69 Megan February 3, 2012 at 11:17 pm

Hey there! I’m running Zooma Atlanta 1/2 — I literally just registered! And thanks SO much for the $10 coupon code, made my day.

This will be my second half marathon and I’m VERY excited. :) Hope to meet up!

70 tinareale February 4, 2012 at 6:55 am

Awesome! I would love to meet! :)

71 Dena @ 40 Fit in the Mitt February 4, 2012 at 12:52 am

What an adorable picture of Makenzie holding your race sign!

72 Ro @ Eat Live Move February 4, 2012 at 5:17 am

The best thing about this week was that I pulled out some old step aerobics workouts and had a blast from the past. It was so much fun!

73 Tiff February 4, 2012 at 6:30 am

Wow, it’s real, girl. :) You’re gonna rock that race.

Congrats on the magazine feature too.

74 Katie February 4, 2012 at 8:09 am

I’m running Chicago too! It’s my first full marathon. Can’t wait :) I would LOVE to see you, that would be pure motivation for me!

75 tinareale February 4, 2012 at 2:16 pm

I certainly hope we will get the chance to meet!

76 katie February 4, 2012 at 8:24 am

Congrats on all the exciting stuff! 2012 is shaping up to be amazing for you! You deserve it girl, you put your heart and soul into this blog!

Happy Weekend! <3

77 Marcia February 4, 2012 at 8:27 am

Congrats on having both of your marathons all set! I’ve run Chicago twice and it is amazing. I’ll be there cheering this year!

78 tinareale February 4, 2012 at 2:13 pm

Hopefully we will get the chance to meet!

79 Kiah February 4, 2012 at 12:30 pm

You’re signed up for TWO marathons?? You go girl. And congrats on the bloggie feature :-)

80 Cate February 4, 2012 at 4:16 pm

I signed up for Chicago too; it will be my first marathon! Sounds like a bunch of bloggers are running it, so hopefully we can have a big meet-up. :)
I have been trying to figure out a half marathon for this year and actually looked into Zooma Atlanta, it looks like a good event. I haven’t made a decision yet though…

81 tinareale February 5, 2012 at 3:27 pm

Let me know if you end up doing Zooma! And regardless, hopefully we can meet in Chicago! :)

82 Rebecca February 5, 2012 at 12:47 am

That’s awesome that you’re running 2 marathons this year! I’m trying to run my first marathon this year as well, potentially in early-mid summer. I haven’t even picked a race yet, but hey, I might even end up running the Cleveland Marathon too! The most exciting thing this week was my PR at the 3M half marathon on Sunday, with a time of 2:06:27!

83 tinareale February 5, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Great job!!! And be sure to let me know if you do Cleveland. :)

84 [email protected] February 6, 2012 at 1:56 pm

Congrats on registering for both marathons! That’s so exciting! GOOD LUCK IN ADVANCE, you’ll do great! And its so great that you are getting to be involved and participate with zooma again! I hope the second time is even better that the first! Such an adorable picture of your daughter holding the sign, seeing that would make me so motivated to finish a race, you’re lucky you have such a great support team. Keep up the great work :)
