New Recipes of the Week

by tinareale on February 4, 2012

Morning morning morning! Thank you to everyone for your amazing support of my recent posts – all the sharing of the plank post and the congratulations on my recent exciting updates. You all rock! If you like the workouts you’ve been seeing here, stay tuned tomorrow for a great upper body workout and a little circuit I like to call the “Booty Burner”. My butt is just now not feeling it anymore and I did it on Wednesday!

As usual, Saturday mornings are for catching up a bit with the weekend countdown! Cheers to a fabulous weekend ahead…

4 Food-Related Things Making Me Smile This Week

IMGP3342-1

I also made a slight variation of the Six Sisters’ Stuff Crockpot Honey Chicken that I found via Pinterest. I mixed it with brown rice and a load of steamed broccoli for a simple, tasty meal that rivaled Chinese take out.

IMGP3340-1

  • Cooking up another batch of the Honey Chicken to bring to my friends for dinner. She gave birth a little over a week ago, so I made sure to take the cooking worry off their hands for a night.
  • Baking Katie’s Oatmeal Peanut Butter Bars to give them a little dessert. You betcha I snagged a sample!

IMGP3435-1

  • $5 foot longs all February at Subway. I’m so there! And apparently so hungry, since all my things that make me smile this week relate to food.

3 Quotes That Inspired Me This Week

Okay…that last one isn’t really an inspiring quote…but how perfect is that for me?!

2 Favorite Blogs of the Week

Callie @ The Wannabe Athlete – Super kind with LOTS of quality content. And an awesome mom keeping it real and striving for health.

Carla @ MizFit Online – If you don’t read Carla’s blog I think you’re crazy you should. Her blog is typically the first I read most mornings. She never fails to start my day off with a dose of inspiration and a mood to go show each day who is boss!

2 Katie @ Raisins&Apples February 4, 2012 at 7:31 am

I made that same recipe of Chelsey’s….topped with parmesan though. Too good! yOur blog is usually the only one posted when I have to leave for work, so my first is you :)

3 chelsey @ clean eating chelsey February 4, 2012 at 7:33 am

Glad you liked the Chili! I use the google “next” button for my reader so it’s usually whoever publishes right when I start reading when I’m eating my breakfast. It’s usually you or Jess @ How Sweet It Is!

Love the Next button!

5 Liz (Little Bitty Bakes) February 4, 2012 at 7:43 am

Mmm, that honey chicken looks delicious! And I’m so excited for FebruANY :) Easy, delicious $5 dinners!

First blog I usually read in the morning depends on when I woke up and whose tweeted post caught my attention – today, it was yours!

6 Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon February 4, 2012 at 7:44 am

Those oatmeal peanut butter bars look AMAZING! Have a wonderful Saturday!

7 Cheryl @ eatplayluvblog February 4, 2012 at 8:19 am

I am not sucking up: I read yours first! Then I usually head to Carrots n Cake, Meals n Miles, Healthful Pursuit, Kath Eats, and Clean Eating Chelsey. Later in the day I read a whole list of others!

Aw, thanks! I’m with a good group. :)

9 Gina @ Running to the Kitchen February 4, 2012 at 8:28 am

I REALLY want to try Katie’s bars out. They’ve been bookmarked, starred, highlighted forever. this was a great reminder :) I don’t have one blog that I start with actually, I just press the “next” button and see where it takes me!

10 jana @ newly wife healthy life February 4, 2012 at 8:45 am

The first blog I usually read is whichever one pops up on my twitter feed first.. :-) Last night I tried Chocolate Covered Katie’s cookie dough dip and it turned out awesome! Even the boys loved it and were so shocked when they found out the secret ingredient! http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2011/05/23/want-to-eat-an-entire-bowl-of-cookie-dough/
I recommend giving it a go!

11 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats February 4, 2012 at 9:26 am

I actually usually read Chelsey’s first, because she’s one of the few that’s already up when I wake up!

12 Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health February 4, 2012 at 9:41 am

All of those recipes look absolutely delicious :) . You’re blog is actually the one I usually start my day off with! And if I don’t have time to comment then, then I come back later hehe. Hope you have a great weekend Tina! <3

13 Heather (Where's the Beach) February 4, 2012 at 9:41 am

I love that always be kind quote. I saw that you had pinned it. Honestly, I usually read the blog that’s in the reader first and just go down the list from there.

14 Kinley @ Better Off Barefoot February 4, 2012 at 9:58 am

I normally read your’s first ;) And my favorite meal from this past week was actually not even a recipe from somewhere but was kale chips with poached eggs on toast. Boring but I must have been REALLY hungry because they tasted so good! Ha! I guess poaching eggs was “new” to me so hopefully that counts!

15 Lee February 4, 2012 at 10:06 am

I have all the Atlanta bloggers grouped together and since Atlanta starts with “A”, I usually read all those first.

16 Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries February 4, 2012 at 10:21 am

I love that lululemon water bottle! I want it so bad but I can’t find one anywhere online :( The first blog I read each day is usually yours or Chelsey’s because you post before I leave for school!

19 Callie @ The Wannabe Athlete February 4, 2012 at 12:23 pm

Thanks so much for the shoutout! I actually have a different link now though: http://www.thewannabeathlete.com. Looks a lot fancier too than it used to! :)

20 tinareale February 4, 2012 at 2:20 pm

Does the old one auto direct? Because that’s the one that pops up in my search bar and so I always thought it was the same! I’ll still go in and change it here though. Whoops!

21 Michelle February 4, 2012 at 12:31 pm

That chicken crockpot recipe looks awesome!!

My first read of the morning is usually Cely — Running Off the Reese’s. I need my daily does of humor and sarcasm before I start the day!

30 Kelly @ Kelly Be Well February 4, 2012 at 9:18 pm

So glad to see the review on the honey chicken! I was thinking of trying it but wasn’t sure….I like how you plated it up though, and will try it that way. :)

31 tinareale February 5, 2012 at 3:28 pm

I will say that I used a bit less honey and oil than the recipe called for and it still turned out great. :)

32 Dena @ 40 Fit in the Mitt February 4, 2012 at 10:41 pm

The first blogs I read are yours and Courtney’s at Sweet Tooth Sweet Life! I have noticed a real change in both of your blogs energy and I love it. You can tell your having fun and enjoying what your writing about, I CAN’T GET ENOUGH.
