We’re Going To Bootcamp!

by tinareale on February 8, 2012

I have alluded to it a few times. I gauged interest. I talked to some of my favorite brands. I have scribbled workout ideas on scraps of paper my fancy legal pads. I have planned and sorted, sorted and planned. And now, my friends, we’re going to bootcamp! Introducing (the first, the only??) BEST BODY BOOTCAMP!

bootcamp_large

I believe a body treated well and challenged to achieve new heights is our own, personal "best body". Stronger or leaner may be a side effect, but the focus is on healthier and happier through living a fit lifestyle. That’s what this bootcamp is all about.

THE DETAILS

WHO: Anyone! This challenge will be open to bloggers and readers, family and friends. Anyone who registers before the cut-off date (March 4th – day before challenge begins).

WHAT: Best Body Bootcamp Challenge

WHEN: 8 Weeks through March and April – beginning Monday March 5th and ending Monday April 30

WHERE: Online! Through www.tinareale.com .

WHY: A fun and flexible way to train to get ready for those warmer months that are fast approaching. A great way to stay motivated through the support of other participants. To learn and experience new workout techniques and exercises. To enter to win great prizes!!!!

HOW????

In order to participate in the Best Body Bootcamp Challenge, you will need to register. The cost for registration is $25.00 paid through PayPal (at the bottom of this post or in the sidebar). The $25.00 covers the cost of the 8 week Bootcamp Workout Plan plus the “cash prize pot” (details below).

The workout plan will include challenging workouts that will keep your body guessing over the course of the 8 weeks. The plan will include both strength workouts and suggested cardio – you can feel free to do your own cardio thing, if desired, with this challenge.

Disclaimer: The Bootcamp Workout Plan will not be a completely individualized program. It is different from my workout goal programs and will not provide the same individualization and full 24/7 support, accountability, and personal attention as my goal programs. I will happily provide alternate moves upon request to fit your available equipment or physical needs, but it will still follow the basic layout of the 8 week program. If desiring more individualized training, accountability and support, you may sign up for a goal program and opt in to the bootcamp prizes (as long as your plan is active during the bootcamp). If you have any questions about which would be a better fit for you, please email me at tina[at]tinareale[dot]com.

This will NOT be a challenge of who loses the most weight or who is “strongest, leanest, or most fit”. This will be a personal challenge to take better care of yourself and live healthier and happier. For that reason, each participant will have the option to pick up to two other goals to work towards in addition to the workouts.

Examples:

  • drink ___ glasses of water per day
  • eat ___ servings of produce per day
  • eat out only ___ times per week
  • write ___ positive thoughts per day
  • get ____ hours of sleep per night
  • stretch ____ minutes per day

During the 8 weeks of the challenge, you will update your progress weekly with your completed activity for the week and your progress towards two other goals of your choosing. Based on your updated progress in each area, you will earn entries for weekly prize drawings.

Each week will feature a prize from one of many great companies that I have grown to love!

Best Body Bootcamp Prize Sponsors

The final week will feature a prize giveaway you won’t want to miss – including cash! $10 of each registration fee will be set aside to go towards the cash prize pot for the end of the challenge. Participants who stay on track through the entire course of the challenge will be entered to win a pack of great prizes from sponsors, plus however much cash the pot accumulates.

The more people participate, the higher the grand cash prize at the end of the challenge. Get the word out there! 10 people sign up…that’s $100! 50 people sign up…that’s $500!! 100…that’s $1000!!!!

I hope this will be inspiring, motivating, and FUN! Let’s do this thing!! Who’s with me?

4 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 7:40 am

Just before the bootcamp starts (so March 4). Sorry. Meant to clarify that in the post. I’ll go back and change it.

This looks awesome!!! I’ll definitely help spread the word :)

9 Annie February 8, 2012 at 7:48 am

Will the workouts have to be done in the gym or will some of them be home doable?

10 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 10:16 am

They will be created with the assumption of being done at a gym but with a large focus on free weights and body weight type of work. HOWEVER – as part of the cost, I will happily sub out any exercises as needed to make them doable completely at home. :)

11 Heather (Heather's Dish) February 8, 2012 at 8:05 am

this sounds so fun…i can’t wait til round 2 when i can actually participate!

12 Melissa K February 8, 2012 at 8:06 am

17 Tiff February 8, 2012 at 8:54 am

Cool idea – good luck with it girl! :)

18 Jess February 8, 2012 at 8:59 am

This is so fun!! Such a positive and motivating experience for all! I wish I could join in but with barre n9ne training ruling my life for the next 6 weeks, I don’t think I could fit it all in! I’ll be watching and cheering from the sidelines though!!

19 rhonda February 8, 2012 at 9:07 am

Will you take other forms of payment too?

20 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 10:22 am

I just emailed you. :)

21 Cat @Breakfast to Bed February 8, 2012 at 9:19 am

what a GREAT idea!! Super exciting, Tina!!

22 jobo February 8, 2012 at 9:26 am

This is awesome! I can’t wait to watch it all progress and I, like Jess, would totally have loved to join this, if we weren’t doing our barre n9ne training in this timeframe too! If you offer it up again, I would love to do it!! So fun!

23 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 10:17 am

Oh my gosh! I just realized that I never got back to your site to comment and tell you CONGRATS! I read your post on my phone and couldn’t comment…but I’m SOOOOO thrilled for you taking this step! :)

24 jobo February 8, 2012 at 10:32 am

Aw, thank you Tina!! No worries, and thank you so much!!!! Can’t wait!

25 Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries February 8, 2012 at 9:37 am

how fun!!! awesome job at setting this all up and organizing it tina!

26 Tamara February 8, 2012 at 9:41 am

Sounds fantastic!
Great idea, great sponsors! You go girl!

27 Gina @ Running to the Kitchen February 8, 2012 at 10:13 am

This is exciting! Big question for me though: will these be doable at home (I have a home gym w/ some equipment but not to the extent of a “real” gym)?? Please say yes :)

28 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 10:20 am

YES they will! I will make the overall plan in mind of having access to the gym, but part of the cost is me subbing out exercises to make them work for you. A lot of the workouts will already be free weights and body weight focused, but I will happily sub out ones that use gym equipment for alterations in at-home workouts. :)

29 Evan @ HEAVY EVAN February 8, 2012 at 10:30 am

I am currently in final negotiations with my wife and all signs point to her allowing me to register. She actually wants to do it as well! We are both pretty excited about this. Thanks, Tina, for working so hard to put this together.

30 Sarah February 8, 2012 at 10:35 am

Is it open to Canadians? If so, I’m in:)

31 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 2:47 pm

Yep! A lot of the companies may not ship to Canada, but have offered to ship to me and then I can ship to Canada. I know you all don’t have the option to participate in a lot of things, so I’m making sure you have the option this time! The only prize this may not work for is if you won the Chobani. Just a heads up.

32 Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning February 8, 2012 at 10:41 am

This is so awesome- and so are the prizes. :)
I have a hard time following any program because of my “required” workouts from teaching spin and bodypump, but I still want to check out the details.
And, I can’t wait to get my butt kicked by your bootcamp workout at Blend! :)

33 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 2:44 pm

Email me if you want to see how this could work with you. I don’t want the plan to be a burden and am more than happy to help it fit your needs so you can participate. :) I understand, though, if you don’t feel like your teaching/training schedule will allow it. :)

34 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats February 8, 2012 at 10:49 am

Haha I just want all the prizes!!!! Is this something that would work well with half marathon training as well? I know you’re training for one so you know the time commitment for that!

35 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 2:43 pm

I definitely think it can work with other training. I will offer suggestions for alterations if needed and the plan will emphasize a lot of training principles that will benefit running – functional work, stabilization, etc.

36 Brigid February 8, 2012 at 10:55 am

Awesome! How many sessions a week are we talking? Is it feasible to do this on top of running 3-4 times a week? (half marathon season)

37 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 2:41 pm

Hi Brigid! The plan will include 2-4 strength/functional workouts per week and should fit well with running, especially since there will be weeks focusing on stabilization, unilateral strengthening, and functional work.

38 Amanda Perry @ Sistas of Strength February 8, 2012 at 11:02 am

What a great idea!!!! Everyone is going to love it. :)

39 Alyse February 8, 2012 at 11:28 am

I don’t have access to a gym. Will these be gym-based workouts with machines or own body strength/free weight workouts?

Thank you.

40 tinareale February 8, 2012 at 2:40 pm

I will provide substitutions for any exercises that use gym machines/equipment to make them user friendly to those who workout at home as well. Most of the moves will be free weight and body weight focused already.

Hope this helps! :)

41 Alyse February 8, 2012 at 2:49 pm

Sounds great! If I can come up with the extra cash I’m totally in.

42 Bonnie February 8, 2012 at 11:33 am

Wahoo! Way to make this happen, Tina! Great set up, including brands/sponsors and cash prizes! Pretty sweet incentive for people. ;)

43 Cheryl @ eatplayluvblog February 8, 2012 at 12:32 pm

You are the coolest! This is an awesome idea.

44 Carol @ Lucky Zucca February 8, 2012 at 12:43 pm

WOOO!!! Lets get this party started!!!!

45 lindsay February 8, 2012 at 1:14 pm

woo hoo! this is awesome Tina. I am going to spread the word. Keep motivating us!

46 Heather @ Better With Veggies February 8, 2012 at 1:43 pm

What a great idea, I love the prizes and incentives to stick with it!!

47 Annette@EnjoyYourHealthyLife February 8, 2012 at 2:00 pm

VERY cool! Good luck :) Such great sponsors!

48 Katie @ Healthy Heddleston February 8, 2012 at 2:17 pm

49 Kristen (The Running Mom) February 8, 2012 at 2:34 pm

What an awesome idea! I love it!

50 Katie February 8, 2012 at 3:40 pm

Great idea! Can’t wait to promote this on my blog!!

51 Lindsey @ Cardio Pizza February 8, 2012 at 6:01 pm

Great idea! Sounds fun! :)

52 Ana Maria February 8, 2012 at 6:39 pm

This sounds so amazing!

53 Meredith @ DareYouTo February 8, 2012 at 10:29 pm

Wow this looks AWESOME! Great sponsors, good goal-setting templates, and I bet it’s an awesome workout !

54 Jane February 9, 2012 at 1:50 am

Awesome! So exciting!

55 Dena @ 40 Fit in the Mitt February 9, 2012 at 11:11 am

This came just in time, I feel like I hit a brick wall with my workouts, I have doing the same ones so long. So looking forward to starting, I just signed up!

56 Sophie @ LoveLiveAndLearn February 9, 2012 at 12:44 pm

I would love to do this but I don’t think my physical impairments will make it possible :-( Plus I’m in the UK so I doubt the companies would ship here? But I will definitely spread the word!!

57 BrookeNotOnADiet February 9, 2012 at 12:45 pm

This sounds like a ton of fun and may be just what I need to do after my 30 Day Shred challenge.

Definitely going to keep it in mind!

58 tinareale February 9, 2012 at 1:13 pm

I hope you decide to join! And I love the Shred! :)

59 Sarah February 9, 2012 at 2:47 pm

Brooke,
I’ll be finishing up the 30 Day Shred around the time bootcamp starts up, too. This seems like such a great next step!
What level are you on? I’m on 2 at the moment (I don’t do it every day)- the chair squats with the V-raises kill me!

60 BrookeNotOnADiet February 9, 2012 at 4:20 pm

I’m on level 2 as well. Just started it on Monday. Holy crapballs I’m hating the last ab exercise! And the v-raises with the chair squats are brutal! A much more tough than level 1 and as much as it sucks some mornings, I’m loving the changes I’m seeing!

61 Liz (Little Bitty Bakes) February 9, 2012 at 9:55 pm

This is so awesome Tina! If it weren’t starting two weeks before my big half marathon, I’d definitely join in! Is there a way to do it for the first few weeks without going too hard? Or, maybe I could just join Bootcamp #2, because I’m sure you’ll do it again ;)

62 tinareale February 10, 2012 at 5:31 am

Hey, Liz! I just wanted to give you a heads up that I’m not 100% sure I’ll do it again (depends on how this one goes and getting prize sponsors and things again for a future one). So, if you think you want to go ahead and do this one, part of the cost is me giving suggested alterations for those who need them – for at home workouts, to fit with other training, etc. You could certainly have it fit with your half marathon the first two weeks. I understand if you still decide not to, though! Just wanted to let you know. :)

63 Stefanie @TheNewHealthy February 10, 2012 at 5:01 pm

This sounds so awesome!

64 Amy February 10, 2012 at 9:51 pm

Woo hoo! Can’t wait to start! I will be doing all my workouts from home since I refuse to pay for a gym membership!!! It will also be great for me since shortly after ending the bootcamp I will have my first half marathon!!!! :D

65 tinareale February 12, 2012 at 7:10 pm

So glad that you are participating!

66 Anna@ActiveFingers February 10, 2012 at 11:55 pm

Very exciting! My first year teaching is taking over my life and this looks like something I could fit in my full days. So far, my exercise consist of being on my feet teaching and walking between my two classrooms on opposite ends of the school.

67 tinareale February 12, 2012 at 7:09 pm

I hope you can participate! :)

68 Janice February 17, 2012 at 5:07 pm

This sounds like a fun way to change up the workouts I have been doing since November. It’s good to have a change. I think I’ll register.

69 tinareale February 18, 2012 at 6:07 am

It’s going to be fun!!! :)

70 Karen February 17, 2012 at 9:07 pm

Just registered – very excited to join!

71 tinareale February 18, 2012 at 6:08 am

Awesome! so excited!!!

72 Emily February 19, 2012 at 9:53 am

Hi Tina! Just registered but am having trouble paying for some reason. It was giving me a different amount than the registration fee you listed.

Any suggestions? So very excited to start this!!

73 tinareale February 19, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Sometimes when a page refreshes during the registration process it counts it as an extra “ticket”, I think. I went through and deleted all but one of the tickets it had listed for you so you should be at just the $25. Sorry for the inconvenience and let me know if you need me to send the invoice directly to you to make it easier. I would be more than happy to! :)

74 Laura February 19, 2012 at 12:32 pm

I want to do this!!! I’m crazy busy now though (barely have time for yoga) Is this a limited time thing? Or are you going to be doing this for a while?

75 tinareale February 19, 2012 at 3:34 pm

The bootcamp will just be for March and April. It may come up again later in the year, but the workouts and program will only be offered for the 8 weeks this spring. I do offer individualized plans year round, though. You can visit them on my services page and purchase those at any time. :)

76 Tara February 24, 2012 at 11:58 am

Woo Hoo!!!! I just signed up fror bootcamp!!! So excited! to see whats in store!!!

77 tinareale February 24, 2012 at 1:26 pm

So excited you signed up! ;)

78 Angie @ Losing It and Loving It February 24, 2012 at 9:13 pm

Sounds like fun! As for the weekly check in’s how will you handle those? Email or are we posting our updates on our blogs? Just asking because I do a post every Sunday with my daily workout log and wonder if that would be sufficient. Either way, I’ll make it work *wink*

79 tinareale February 24, 2012 at 10:34 pm

There will be up to 4 prize entries per week – tallied through a spreadsheet. It will be very quick and easy to mark, then you send that to me. You also earn an extra entry each week by sharing about the challenge, so your blog post would fit that perfectly! :)

More extensive details will be coming by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. :)

80 Abbie February 26, 2012 at 8:21 pm

I cannot wait to get started!!! :-)

81 Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut February 27, 2012 at 1:02 pm

This is an amazing idea Tina! I wish this came after my half-marathon training though! It’s my first half ever and I think bootcamp plus that would stress me out!

Great idea and excited to see the feedback!! :-)

82 Becky February 27, 2012 at 5:30 pm

I want to sign up…however, never used PayPal before.

83 tinareale February 27, 2012 at 6:01 pm

I believe it will let you pay even without an account. Unfortunately, that is the only way I know to accept payment. The site does a pretty good job of making it easy to use. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

84 Tara February 27, 2012 at 8:06 pm

aw I’d love to sign up for this but I’m going to be on vacation for 3 weeks in March and away from the computer :( I hope you do this again after this session is over, I’d sing up FOR SURE :) :) Good luck!!!

85 tinareale February 27, 2012 at 8:12 pm

Thanks! And I hope you have a great vacation!

86 Amy February 28, 2012 at 8:16 am

I’m going to sign up today! I need motivation to stay on track BIG time! I’ll be doing the workouts completely at home (i have free weights and a bench) and my main cardio will be running (i’m training for a race). Can’t wait to get started!

87 Jen February 28, 2012 at 6:57 pm

This is awesome! I’m the biggest strength training slacker so doing this will help keep me accountable. :) Do you have a general estimate of how long each workout will take each day? Trying to gauge if this is possible to do w/ 1/2 marathon training!

88 tinareale February 28, 2012 at 8:26 pm

The plan is laid out with 5-6 hour long workouts (that includes suggested cardio). The weight portions will each be around 25-40 minutes usually 3 days a week. However, the plans are meant to be adaptable. You can do your own cardio (obviously for training) and even email me with questions related to if you need to adjust/limit some of the strength sessions. I want it to be flexible and fun for each person, while still motivating and giving new training ideas.

I completely understand if you don’t think it will be a good fit, though!

89 Angie @ Losing It and Loving It March 1, 2012 at 11:01 pm

All signed up and ready for your workout goal training program and the bootcamp. YEA!

So excited.

90 Kat March 2, 2012 at 9:56 am

Hi!
I was wondering, if these workouts would be ok to do if pregnant? I obviouslly do not want to lose weight, but want to stay in great shape throughout my pregnancy.
Thanks!

91 tinareale March 2, 2012 at 10:12 am

I wish they were, but I would have to say no. Best of health to you during your pregnancy, though! And great that you want to maintain fitness. :)

92 christie March 4, 2012 at 6:30 pm

i live in canada. am i eligible for the cash prizes?

93 tinareale March 4, 2012 at 6:39 pm

Yep! The only prize you wouldn’t really be eligible for would be any food items that couldn’t be shipped to Canada easily (like the chobani yogurt)

94 Rebecca @ Runner with an Appetite March 5, 2012 at 9:44 am

This sounds like fun! Would this plan be compatible with someone running 4-5 days a week? I need to incorporate more strength training into my weekly workouts, but afraid this plan wouldn’t jive with my running schedule.

95 tinareale March 5, 2012 at 10:32 am

There are quite a few runners in the group and I can provide suggestions on which weight workouts to focus on and which to leave out if it feels too much to compete all. If you’re used to strength training fairly regularly it should fit fine with the running with adaptations. The plan is meant to be flexible as well. :)

96 Tara March 5, 2012 at 12:01 pm

So excited to start the bootcamp!!

97 Courtney March 5, 2012 at 12:40 pm

I just heard about this today through a bunch of bloggers, which is a bummer cause I’d love to join!

I’m currently training for a half marathon in May and I was wondering if there’s a way to do this once I am done. I know that I won’t qualify for the prizes but I’d love a great workout when I’m done with my training? Is there anyway I can pay and get all of the emails people received while on the program?

Thanks!

98 tinareale March 5, 2012 at 1:41 pm

Let’s put it this way…you pay, you will get all the workouts and emails, access to the facebook group, etc. It’s your prerogative how you use the workouts. ;)

99 Courtney March 5, 2012 at 1:45 pm

Thanks, so glad you extended the registration, I just signed up!

100 Katrina @ 'Sota is Sexy March 5, 2012 at 1:17 pm

Is it too late to sign-up and be eligible for all of the giveaways, since today is the first day? Let me know! :)

101 tinareale March 5, 2012 at 1:40 pm

Yes! I extended registration to be open until 8 PM EST tonight! So, sign up soon if you’re still interested. :)

102 Katrina @ 'Sota is Sexy March 5, 2012 at 1:47 pm

Sweet! Just signed up — thanks!!

103 Karlee March 5, 2012 at 1:45 pm

Sorry if you already answered this. What materials will I need?

104 tinareale March 5, 2012 at 1:53 pm

The workouts are written with adaptations (including at home adaptations) for every move. You would need dumbbells at the minimum (preferably a lighter and heavier option). A stability ball is also highly suggested, with things like medicine balls or resistance tubing other options but certainly not required because I give substitutions for any move using those. :)

105 Keri March 5, 2012 at 7:53 pm

I just signed up! I take a LONG time to make decisions. Better late than never:) I’m excited!

106 Pure2raw twins March 5, 2012 at 8:50 pm

this is amazing!! Tina you are the best!!

107 Sunshine Conkey March 14, 2012 at 10:26 am

Will there be another bootcamp after this 1 is over on April 30th? My laptop wasn’t working as good as it should so I missed the sign-up deadline. I’m enjoying reading blog posts from 1 of your participates about this challenge even though I’m not in it.
Hopefully if you have another challenge later, I will be all squared-away from moving and have better wifi service.

108 Carol @ Lucky Zucca March 20, 2012 at 6:46 pm

Tina I just have to say … I had a hard time getting in my workouts on time because of half marathon training but I’ve finally gotten around to starting this week and I just have to say- you are AMAZING!!!! I am seriously just bursting with pride that you put this together. You’ve managed it so well and created incredible, unique workouts. I’ve only done the first two circuits and have already been introduced to many new moves that I LOVE doing! Way to make working out fun!!! Thank you so much for coordinating and creating this. Keep up the excellent work!

109 tinareale March 20, 2012 at 7:01 pm

Aw, thanks!!!! That really made my afternoon. It means a lot. :)

110 Shannon March 27, 2012 at 11:19 am

Hi Tina! I didn’t sign up for this when you first offered it because I take a lot of group fitness classes, but I’m changing it up and working out on my own a little more often. I was wondering if I sign up – would it be possible to get the past workouts that I missed and the future ones? I understand I wouldn’t be entered for a prize, but I’ve been seeing other bloggers rave about these workouts so I’m thinking I should try them. Thank you!

111 Elizabeth April 2, 2012 at 2:32 am

I wish I had known before now! Is there any way we could receive the workouts still? I would totally pay…I could care less about the prizes!!

112 Seeking Amy April 10, 2012 at 9:48 am

So sad I missed out on this! :(

113 Joy July 23, 2012 at 10:58 am

Is it too late to join? I just saw it on pbf blog!!!

114 tinareale July 23, 2012 at 12:19 pm

Unfortunately, due to the amount of behind the scenes work to get participants organized, squared away, and ready for the boot camp, I have to stick with the registration deadlines. I do plan on hosting another round later this year and then another to kick off the New Year. I wish I could accommodate late registration, but I hope you will be able to join in the future rounds. Thanks for understanding!
