It’s Friday! Which means time for a rest day for me, hopefully getting caught up on sleep (some) this weekend, library volunteering at Makenzie’s school, and some pasta and salad for dinner tonight. It also means “Fun Fact Friday” and hopping on the 11 Random Things bandwagon. I may be the last person to do this survey, but I don’t care.
Chelsey tagged me and these things make me smile. Happy Friday, people!
11 Random Things About Yours Truly
1. I’m typing this post with bags of frozen peas around my ankles/lower shins. I’m not injured, but always tread with too much?? caution. You all know that I foam roll regularly, but I also make sure to ice my arches/ankles/shins (my problem areas), do lots of calf stretches, and do special ankle strengthening exercises almost daily.
2. As much as I love to eat wholesome foods, if I could eat whatever I wanted with no repercussions to my health or body, I would choose pizza and ice cream over a large salad or bowl of oatmeal any day. Any. Day. You’ll still find me running and weight training, though. I won’t give those up.
3. If I go to bed past 9 pm, I’m a zombie by 2 pm the next day. I simply must get 8 hours of sleep. Even then, sometimes I still get extraordinarily tired.
4. I’ve recently become absolutely obsessed with the site I told you about a couple weeks ago –
Greatist. This week, they posted a
The Ultimate Guide To Running Lingo. Oh, how I wish I had that when I first started and felt so lost. And a few other goodies from their site you may like:
5. Sometimes I wonder why God allowed me to become a mother. Deep down, I know I’m a great mother and love my kids so dearly. However, not a day goes by that I don’t doubt my abilities at least a little bit. Occasionally I DO feel selfish for my life not 100% revolving around them. Then, I remind myself it’s important to have my own passions and identity. And that my kids love me and I love them.
6. I cannot carry a tune. Not in the slightest. I don’t even like to hear myself sing!
7. I’m related to Ralph “Shrug” Jordan – one of the coaches Auburn University’s football stadium is named after. Although, I will cheer for Alabama over Auburn. And for the record, you pronounce it JERD-un, not JOR-dan. That whole side of the family is very particular on their names and heritage. Very particular.
11 Random Questions to Answer From Chelsey
1. Chocolate or Vanilla? For ice cream and cake – vanilla…for anything else, chocolate!
2. What would you do with 1 million dollars? Donate some to our church, take a fun trip (cruise around the Mediterranean!) , and save the rest.
3. Where is your favorite place to buy groceries? I shop at both Publix and Kroger.
4. What is your biggest fear? That something will happen to Peter or one of my kids. I don’t think I would have the strength for it.
5. What is the last book you read? The Blue Bistro by Erin Hildebrand. It’s one of those feel good, light-hearted, romantic books. I liked it! But I’m super excited to know The Hunger Games FINALLY came in for me at the library!
6. Favorite movie? Do episodes of FRIENDS on DVD count? I’m serious.
7. What do you see yourself doing in 5 years? Running around Mothering a six and eight year old (!!!!), running, personal training, and loving wherever God led me.
8. Romantic or comedy movie? If we’re talking comedy like Bridesmaids or Hangover, then comedy.
9. Last dream you remember? I don’t know! Although I do remember my freakiest dream ever where I got abducted by aliens. It was so real and I woke up and immediately vomited everywhere. Still freaks me out.
10. Have you ever been in a car accident? Yes. I’ve been hit by a car. As in, my body. Crazy freak story you can find on my old blog.

11. What is the longest friendship you have ever had? I have a friend I have known since middle school, but we’ve sadly still been growing apart. Nothing bad – just in different places with little in common anymore.
Now, I’m supposed to give 11 more questions. And choose 11 new people. I’m going to cheat. Whoever wants to play, hop on board!! I copy Chelsey’s because they were fun. And I’m short on time. See? Good mom. Choosing to be ready for when my kids get up than come up with 11 questions. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

I love this survey! I still haven’t done mine…was thinking about finally getting around to it today! Girl- we are ALL with you on #5. I think a little “me” time though, makes us much better mothers. And I’m totally a comedy movie person too
I loved your favourite movie answer
<3333 Friends NEVER gets old. NEVER <3
Seriously, I loved this survey. I love learning more about my fav blog authors
<3
Great post! Loved learning all these new random things about cha! Happy Friday
I am the same way as you regarding vanilla vs. chocolate! I love vanilla ice cream and white cake, but chocolate all the way in everything else
In 5 years I hope to be a mom, making a difference in others’ lives, and also doing what God calls me to do, and doing it well!
Totally with you on number 3!
Fun answers! And you know me and going to be past 9 pm don’t work AT ALL!
I am also shocked and appalled somedays that I’m a mother, yet have the maturity of a 15 year old.
You nailed it. A lot of times I don’t feel grown up enough to raise a child. Like when I laugh at them throwing temper tantrums…because Braedon rolling around on the floor wailing over not being able to eat dog food is just FUNNY to me!
since it’s friday i’m going with the easy one – and totally copying you! i love vanilla for ice cream and cake, but usually will pick chocolate for anything else. unless there’s sea salt involved
I just love your honesty. I can say that being a mom is the best thing I have ever done.
I was up way too late last night reading The Hunger Games. I hesitated in reading it, because I hated Twilight and I lumped them in the same category, but it’s pretty good! And now I’m going to be a zombie at 2pm.
Love this – so fun getting to know bloggers better and just a break from regular postings. I will say that I think it’s important that moms’ lives doing revolved 100% around their children. I think you have to be happy first before you can be the great mom you are for them. And I’m sure you know that of course – you’re one smart cookie!
My longest friendship is my dear friend I’ve known since preschool. So about 33 years!
Oh Friends…I find plowing through a few of those dvds to be the ultimate way to destress.
You are a BETTER mother because you have your own passions and identity. Remember that.
Yep. When my rational side comes out, I 100% know that. I’m sure you relate to the moments of doubt though. Us mommas have to help keep each other sane.
I am seriously right there with you on #s 2 and 3. Right figgin there. As for the the comedy v romance movie, I always choose comedy.
me? Ive played the clarinet for…30 years!!
Really??? I would have never guessed. I like it.
Love these surveys and getting to know you better.
I ice with peas too. Old school is the way to go!
I totally agree with you on Friends for ‘movie’ pick. And I could never give up pizza either. Though I DO love oatmeal a lot so I still consider that one of my tops, oddly
(I would never been able to give up wine either!).
I have the very same fear – I have NO idea what I would do if something happened to Scott. Just the thought of it makes my heart race and my stomach rise into my throat. He means everything to me, truly my other half. I know in times like that, when fear strikes, I should trust God and know that He’s always watching, but sometimes it’s hard to do, you know?
I love this survey
. I did a similar one on my blog, it’s such a neat way to learn about other bloggers who you read about but you don’t know all the random stuff.
And I’d totally be up to cruise the Med if I had a million dollars, I think my husband would love that too
. Good luck icing your legs!
I think your exercise and eating habits are such a great example for your children, and even if you are not spending that time with them, you are educating them about a healthy lifestyle. And when they get older, maybe they can and will want to join you during your workouts! Keep up the great job!!
Oh, and I could totally survive on deep dish cheese pizza and mac n cheese. With a brownie sundae everyday. Every. Day.
Haha! Thanks Kaelin for the understanding and support. On both the parenting…and the pizza + dessert combo.
I read the Blue Bistro last year on vacation. I think I finished it in like 30 hours tops poolside in Mexico. Ahhh, memories
I love these surveys and learning random facts about other bloggers…
I foam rolled (and cursed) while watching 30 Rock last night.
And, I’m with you- sleep is a priority! People can make fun of me all they want, but I need to go to bed between 9-10 (and that usually includes weekends!) because I’ll be up before 6 am no matter what!
The Blue Bistro was such a fun book, hope you enjoy The Hunger Games! I really must read those sometime soon… Right now I’m reading Born To Run, fantastic book. Fun survey!
Love greatist.com! Always have really interesting articles with science to back them up.
I feel like you do about motherhood every day. Actually, I think “Man, I hope I’m not screwing anything up.” everyday
I think it’s so important to spend quality time with your kids – but I also think it’s so important to SHOW them how to live a fulfilling life! You are a GREAT mom.
I love finding out that other people go to bed early too. We hit the hay around 9pm these days. It makes me happy.
You are so smart to do preventative body care. I need to get into this, and since I have a fresh start to running coming up after I get through my injury, I’m gonna take a page from your book.
LOL! I was tagged in this survey twice and still haven’t done it. So you’re definitely not the last one
Love it!!
:] I love your answers and your cop out at the end! I think almost everyone has been tagged anyways! HEHE. The picture of the kiddos on the swings is so cute it just melts my heart. I hope you have an AWESOME rest day today!! Friday is my rest day too. Love it!
Ooo yay now I have a new book to checkout! And like you, I tend to prefer vanilla for my cake!
I seriously need that much sleep too or else I’m a complete zombie. Coffee helps though ;D I can’t believe you were hit by a car!!! That’s so scary, I’m glad you’re okay!
If I won’t $1 million dollars I would first pay off my student loans, then I think I would take a trip throughout Europe. In my opinion, experiences enrich your life much more than material goods could. In 5 years I hope to have met the love of my life, have a job in Public Relations that I enjoy going to every day, and own my own car that I’m not embarrassed to show up at places in! : )
what ankle strengthening exercises do you do? Mine were really bothering me this week and I’ve got 12 miles tomorrow (haha not that I think I can strengthen my ankles in less than 24 hours…).
I loop resistance tubing around my feet and rotate my ankles outward or inward going against the band. Then pull my toes up against a stability ball to strengthen my shins/anterior tibialis muscle. It’s hard to explain. Haha!
you’ll love The Hunger Games! i’m so addicted. can’t wait for the movie. i normally am a “wait til it gets to dvd” kinda girl but i think i’m going to splurge and go see it right away
Shhhhhh I love pizza too and could eat it daily!!!
Love you, girl!!
xxoo
I love seeing answers to questions like these! Pizza and ice cream, what a wonderful meal combination
I’m on the waiting list for the hunger games at the library, can’t wait to read it! Libraries are the best
Fun facts! I love that you have the sense of guidance and also know how to combat your self doubts.
love
Ela
Thanks so much for posting that link to the running lingo! I loved reading that…SUCH a runnerd right here haha
I’ve heard of Greatist but I haven’t found my way around the website yet. Those articles sound, well, great
I ate pizza for dinner earlier tonight and just finished a bowl of ice cream. I’m right there with you – they always win! But so does a run in the morning
Balance!
Fun survey! Some of answers would be so similar, it was like almost reading about myself!
